Visa is seeking a payments professional to join the US Merchant Travel Team supporting the Business Development function. The Business Development Account Executive will be responsible for developing and executing strategies and initiatives to expand penetration capacity, deepen existing relationships, and uncover further engagement / value delivery modalities, for Visa within the Travel Merchant Industry.

Role responsibilities will include development of reporting, research, thought leadership and supporting materials to advance conversations of Visa’s value and solutions fit for managed Merchant Clients within the Travel Industry. In addition, the Business Development Account Executive will serve as either a primary or secondary point of contact for key client relationships, responsible for leading core business planning and related administrative processes in support of the overall Travel industry strategy development.

The position will also lead various cross-functional taskforces, both with internal and external merchant areas and corresponding issuing / acquiring key contacts to validate planned sales efforts, oversee correct implementation of solutions / strategic initiatives, and effectively/efficiently troubleshoot Visa directly managed Merchant Client Account issues.

This Director position will be based in Visa’s New York office and report up through the U.S. Travel merchant vertical team.

Essential Functions

  • Support Senior Account Executive in select duties related to developing and implementing Visa’s overall U.S. Travel Merchant Business Development strategy; as well as owning and managing select U.S. travel merchant business development accounts.
  • Represent Visa's interest and needs externally within managed U.S. Travel Merchant Accounts which requires a thorough understanding of Visa’s business, growth objectives, financial model, solutions, sales goals, strategic initiatives, rules and operational guidelines.
  • Represent U.S. Travel Merchants’ interests and needs internally within Visa which requires a thorough understanding of the merchant's objectives, priorities, strategic initiatives, underlying business (financially and operationally), key partnerships and pain points.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Travel Vertical Segment Plans within managed accounts and in conjunction with the overall Travel Team, as well as other key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute Travel Account Plans within managed accounts, while ensuring accurate and timely recording of related sales pipeline, opportunities, initiatives, interactions and supporting documentation on corresponding CRM tools.
  • Develop and execute a sustainable sales plan to identify, foster, maintain and deliver against sales goals and pipeline, while  keeping leadership apprised of managed accounts’ activity and performance.
  • Lead and support initiatives contributing to the Travel Merchant Business Development function’s capacity expansion of potential, developing and existing client relationships; through conducting Merchant Health Check analyses, selling applicable Visa products and services, and troubleshooting operational issues as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with internal Visa areas – including but not limited to: Product, Buyer and Seller Solutions, Strategy, Finance, Legal, Marketing, Pricing, Strategic Partnerships, Financial Institution Sales, CyberSource, Specialized and other Vertical Merchant Sales teams.
  • Lead and represent Visa/Travel Team on Business Development related, travel industry, sub-vertical and client specific forums and engagements.
  • Lead travel industry innovation and thought leadership strategic efforts as it relates to payments roadmap development and value proposition delivery for the various travel sub-segments within the Business Development Portfolio.
  • Manage internal executive level and cross-functional initiatives, along with core business related planning, processes, and administrative activities.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• Relevant Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
• Payments and/or travel industry knowledge.
• Familiarity of financial controls and legal impacts of contract management.
• Minimum of 5 years business experience with related sales and management experience.
• Ability to manage & grow internal and external resources and cross functional relationships.
• Ability to work independently and in collaboration with high level of success/ achievement.
• Fluent in English.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SalesForce
• Photoshop knowledge ideal.
• Project management skills
• Ability to travel 20-30% of the time
