Job Description

Visa Direct is a payment service that allows clients (sending and receiving financial institutions, processors, merchants, and service providers) to facilitate money movement between Cards, Bank Accounts, and Wallets around the world using faster payments technology. Visa Direct consumer and business applications include person-to-person (P2P) transfers, Business to Consumer (e.g. gig economy payouts), funds disbursement (e.g. insurance claim disbursements), and more. The Global Business Optimization team that supports Visa direct has an important mission: we produce and maintain all the data sources that support optimization activities across the globe as well as turn massive amounts of data into actionable insights that drive business value.  Our analytic consultants and data analysts/engineers work with Visa Direct clients and/or Visa partners/stakeholders to improve program and overall product performance, program profitability, and accountholders experiences around the world.  By coupling in-depth transaction analysis to understand the behavior of Visa Direct programs, we ensure our clients operate at their peak potential and that accountholders have seamless experiences in the physical and digital world. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical and program optimization support for global strategic merchants and enablers including CyberSource.
  • Manage end to end analysis including:
    • Understanding of complex problems, definition of analytical objectives, and formalization of data requirements.
    • Manipulation of Big Data through the creation of complex SQL queries, troubleshooting and data extraction.
    • Creation of tableau data visualizations, performance of data analysis, insights identification and story building.
    • Presentation of analytic deliverables to external Visa clients and/or to internal stakeholders with varying degrees of analytical and technical expertise.
  • Conduct ongoing program performance monitoring including:
    • Perform regular deep dives to identify areas of opportunities and the root causes.
    • Conduct proactive research outside the data if necessary, in order to build a full story.
    • Collaborate with partners across the globe to drive opportunity solutioning.
    • Conduct regular follow ups to track progress on opportunity actions.
    • Proactively raise critical issues to the business and clients.
    • Partners with Visa Direct product, CS readiness and implementations to deliver insights to the client.
  • Active contributor to the overall team data strategy including:
    • Leading or participating in various team projects.
    • Cross collaboration with peers.
    • Drive automation and innovation.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree in computer sciences/data science/analytics or at least 3 years of work experience with an advanced degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD).
  • High level of proficiency manipulating data from a variety of sources - Big data experience (Hadoop, Hive, Spark) and/or advanced SQL skills required.
  • Superior ability to translate data into valuable insights and interesting stories though tableau visualizations is a must.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker, able to move seamlessly from high level concepts to details and solutions with limited guidance.
  • Superior problem-solving skills to understand business requirements and synthesize and communicate complex information effectively to broad audiences.
  • Technical background, strong quantitative skills & experience with troubleshooting data issues.
  • Extreme high attention to detail and demonstrated experience executing deliverables on schedule.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Good team player and excellent interpersonal skill.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6+ years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field or 4 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD).
  • Experience with Python.
  • Visa experience or knowledge of the payment industry is a plus.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
