Job Description

The Director of Program Management, Global Fraud Risk Model Products will be responsible for defining and owning the program management for a high-impact, fast-growing portfolio of payment fraud risk model products, including the smooth running of daily operations and end-to-end strategy for the first line of defense risk management. The person selected for this role will be responsible for identifying, as well as shaping and executing strategies against the biggest program management challenges we face today.

The person selected for the role will sit within the product team, while partnering with product managers, Data Science and frontline partners to streamline our product management processes, fine-tune internal workflows for client services, including transforming and coordinating model governance activities between Visa and the clients who use the products that leverage Visa models. In addition, this person will be the primary contact for coordinating activities with the Regional Client Servicing teams, Department-level 1st Line Risk Management function, and Enterprise-level 2nd Line Risk Management functions. The person will also be the primary representative for Global Fraud Risk Model Products in client meetings involving Client Servicing and Model Governance topics.

Responsibilities:

Model Governance and Model Risk Management:

  • Shape and execute strategies to provide assurance for the model governance internal and external communications, risk, and compliance operations.
  • Manage the model governance program to ensure appropriate internal control, review, maintenance, reporting, and handling of model governance documentation.  This includes development of standard processes, templates and training for model management and model governance.
  • Serve as single point of contact in client-facing and internal meetings regarding model governance topics for the Global Fraud Risk Model Products team
  • Drive internal and external education of model governance trends and Visa strategy, anticipate and streamline client-driven activities through standardization and securing buy-in of support levels needed, introducing revenue model where appropriate
  • Thought partner with central Risk Management teams to develop and maintain policies related to model management and governance in line with regulatory requirements (e.g., OCC 2011/12)
  • Define the standard and the delivery of model independent testing for Visa clients

Program Management:

  • Drive strategy definition and execution of program management processes
  • Drive the planning and execution of prioritized program initiatives
  • Provide the processes and systems that enable efficient tracking, reporting and follow up on risk and model metrics with product managers
  • Partner closely with leaders to align goals and operational metrics in support of the team’s strategic planning and review process
  • Partner closely with leaders and products managers to align goals and operationalize processes to maintain the health of our product portfolio and associated cross-team/department programs
  • Participate/Lead in Risk Management working group and committee forums
  • Serve as a risk thought leader, consultant, and project lead for critical initiatives
  • Serve as process innovator, and lead for internal client-servicing process design and transformation initiatives

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
• Strong communicator – can flex communications to tailor to audience – re: subject matter (i.e. knows how to communicate what is important, why it is important, impact to the business, etc to an audience that does not have the depth of risk experience)
• Seasoned professional and relationship manager who can be left to manage key stakeholders without close management of immediate leader

Preferred Qualifications
• 12+ years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• Experience in Model Governance, Model Risk Management, Risk Management, Compliance or Internal Audit Experience
• Relevant analytical background to support ability to understand and challenge model concepts
• Advanced knowledge of traditional risk management and its relationship within a highly complex and matrixed environment
• Business/financial acumen, translating risks into quantitative business impact
• Strong organizational skills with proven ability to collaborate in a global, matrix environment
• Ability to engage and influence leaders and decision makers within the organization
• Robust understanding of risk management and program management methodologies and frameworks to drive and maintain department adoption.
• Ability to translate observations of global trends in model governance into streamlined processes and effective internal & external communication strategies
