Job Description

We are looking for talented, curious, proactive, energetic, and passionate individuals who embraces challenges and is a proven problem solver.  As a UI Engineer, you will be an integral part of a cross-functional team inventing, designing, building, and testing highly functional, secure, scalable, and interactive user interfaces.  You will collaborate with product owners, architects, test engineers, dev-ops, operations, and other team members from the product ideation stage to production deployment and support. 

In this role, you will work closely with UX designers, software engineers and product owners to build pixel perfect layouts, user interface components, and single page applications for a variety of websites and applications. You will work on a very agile team and be expected to context shift quickly between projects.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Front End Development – contribute to the design rich user interfaces, workflows, reusable UI components, and the APIs that the front end will consume 

  • Works independently with minimal insight to develop software that conforms to Visa’s high standards of security, quality, performance, resiliency, and compliance. 

  • Takes ownership and is responsible for the design and delivery of one or more components 

  • Provides oversight and guidance to team members contributing to those components 

  • Independently create multiple design artifacts for projects and present designs to team members and other stakeholders 

  • Provides mentorship and guidance to more junior team members 

  • Work with Technical Product Managers to break down solutions into smaller achievable tasks 

  • Support test engineers and operation teams in troubleshooting, defect research, issue root cause analysis, and other related activities 

  • Contribute reusable UI components to the UI Platform used by teams across Visa 

  • Stay up to date and evaluate latest and greatest UI technology trends 

  • Participate in demos and code reviews 

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science or related degree and 8+ years of Software Development Experience 

  • Expert knowledge of JavaScript and standards including ES6 

  • Expert knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, CSS4, JSON 

  • Expert knowledge of React and Redux 

  • Expert diagramming solutions (flow, block, logical) 

  • Expert with REST API integrations 

  • Comfortable in delivering presentations to small and medium size forums 

  • Experience with JEST, Linting, Babel, WebPack, and Sagas 

  • Experience in building out a Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipeline 

  • Experience with secure authentication standards like API Keys, JWT, and OAuth  

  • Experience with responsive implementations that scale across web, mobile, and tablet devices 

  • Experience in building out and maintaining UI Frameworks 

  • Knowledgeable of security best practices to prevent common web vulnerabilities like XSS/CSRF

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
