Job Description

This role provides a unique opportunity to work side-by-side with the Global Head of Risk Capabilities, Strategies & Solutions Group (CSSG), Natalie Kelly, to support her in all of her internal and external roles, while helping to drive the strategy and transformation of Visa’s business, collaborating with the Global Risk Leadership Team, CSSG Leaders and cross-functionally with other key leaders at Visa.

The Chief of Staff will sit on the CSSG Leadership Team and work closely with the team to drive forward strategic projects and help manage key Visa initiatives. This role will ensure that all work requests are executed promptly. You will also oversee the implementation and management of a number of internal and external projects and coordinate efforts to facilitate internal deliverables.

In addition, the Chief of Staff will support Natalie on all communications, both internal and external.  The role will also provide insightful research and briefing materials pertaining to the risk ecosystem and regulatory environments that influence the global payment ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have the intellectual rigor and business acumen to handle complex situations and information. They will be a trustworthy individual with experience engaging with senior executives and the C-suite level.

The Chief of Staff will be adept at balancing multiple responsibilities simultaneously in order to deliver long-term projects with the urgency of immediate demands and operations.

It is the nature of the work of a Chief of Staff that tasks and responsibilities are, in many circumstances, unpredictable and varied, which means that you could be working hours outside of 8-5 pm PT. The successful candidate will therefore be comfortable and competent at navigating ambiguity, be a natural self-starter and approach all tasks with a pioneering spirit. This person will embody a curious, diplomatic, problem-solving approach to all matters.

This position will also require administrative support work where you will manage complex, multi-time zone calendar scheduling and anticipating/prioritizing scheduling needs based on deadlines and deliverables. You will also manage multiple email inboxes, email distribution lists, travel arrangements and expenses.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop internal and external communications, including speeches, presentations etc.; working with communications and strategy teams.

  • Support the preparation and compilation of materials for Visa Ecosystem Risk Board meetings.

  • Ownership of specific initiatives / projects as delegated by CSSG Leadership

  • Commission briefings and insightful market research that will add value to the team’s strategic agenda. Proactively identify key industry issues that could affect Global Risk.

  •  Discreetly flag issues as they arise from the business, gathering and positioning these to Natalie clearly outlining the issues and challenges.

  • Stay abreast of all major industry and regulatory initiatives and alert CSSG Leadership to emerging concerns and issues; act as sounding board for CSSG Leadership

  • Ensure that contacts, leads and projects developed and initiated by CSSG are followed through, embedded properly within the organization, and progress made and reported upon.

  • Mange internal projects ensuring efficient workflow to completion. These may range from ensuring that project actions are acted upon to managing correspondence and handling requests for information or action from CSSG + Risk Executives

  • Influence and help to manage the Global Risk Strategy from an executive coordination

  • Develop the agenda for all CSSG LT meetings and act as the main coordination point

  • Ensure that strategic direction is understood and executed with regular progress reports/updates

  • Partner with Internal/External Comms to drive awareness of Risk initiatives and activities

  • Develop materials for meetings with Visa regulators and Board of Directors

  • Lead project management development for key initiatives

  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative professional business relationships with all levels of management, employees, outside companies and other offices.

  • Professional and effective in-person, phone and email presence.

  • Manage and coordinate recurring and ongoing activities that involve the team leaders including monthly Risk reporting, department head meetings, organization chart, PTO calendar, and other activities that require participation across the respective leadership teams.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 2 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD)

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience developing new methodologies, thinking strategically and critically, and prioritizing and managing multiple priorities
• Approaches problems with a can do attitude, never believing solutions are impossible to formulate
• Analytical, organized, accurate, and detail oriented with fact based consultative discipline to weigh business tradeoffs and its associated risks while able to manage under uncertainty.
• Well-organized and able to operate across complex cross functional areas
• Strong written and in-person communication skills, including ability to develop business documentation and presentations to communicate business concepts to technical audiences
• General knowledge of Visa’s business model, payment processes and products/services a plus

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
