Job Description

Visa is inviting passionate and highly energetic technology enthusiast to join our Data Platform Org. Our Data organization develops and manages end-to-end technology solutions that create value from our enterprise data through Internal and client-focused information-based services. This role will participate in design discussions, create solutions, develop programs and ensure successful delivery of business capabilities. This role will assume technical ownership of multiple applications and create robust and scalable solutions. The successful candidate will be a Sr. Staff Data Engineer as part of “Data as a Service” in Data Platform Organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Take complete end-to-end ownership of one or more applications.

· Translate business requirements and source system understanding into technical solutions.

· Work with business partners directly to seek clarity on requirements and propose solutions.

· Define solutions in terms of components, modules and algorithms.

· Design, Development, and Implementation of the proposed solution.

· Refactor existing solutions to make it reusable and scalable.

· Come up with Coding and Design best practices.

· Lead and mentor a small team, deliver tech talks to wider audience.

· Thrive in self-motivated internal-innovation driven environment.

· Adapt to new application knowledge and changes.

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Master/Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or other technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12+ years of software development experience (with a concentration in data centric initiatives), with demonstrated expertise in leveraging standard development best practice methodologies.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of Mainframe experience.
  • Expert level of working experience & knowledge on COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS, REXX & IBM utility.
  • Knowledge in open-source technology like Java, Python, Hadoop is an added advantage.
  • Hand-on experience using CI/CD process.
  • Experience in handling very large data volume.
  • Expertise in Automation will be a value added.
  • Result oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in leading broad initiatives and teams.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to present complex ideas and document in a clear and concise way.
  • Should be a Quick learner; self-starter, detailed and in-depth.
