Job Description

What a Frontend Developer/UI Engineer does at Visa:

In this role, you will model excellent design & engineering principles. At Visa our Frontend Developers & UI Engineers are experienced individual contributors responsible for building usable, accessible and engaging user experiences for Visa's digital product line.

Responsibilities:

  • Build usable, accessible, and engaging digital experiences for the web and mobile
  • Collaborate with product management, design, and other stakeholders to maintain a high bar for quality in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
  • Advocate for improvements to product quality, usability, accessibility, and performance.
  • Solve technical problems of high scope and complexity.
  • Craft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web environment. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review.
  • Recognize impediments to our efficiency as a team and propose and implement solutions.
  • Consistently ship features and improvements with minimal guidance and support from other team members. Collaborate with the team on larger projects.
  • Own and make design decisions based on a thorough understanding of contemporary user-centered design principles
  • Lead and facilitate design thinking sessions to align and engage stakeholders
  • Collaborate with business partners and build upon their vision using sound design & engineering principles
  • Be an advocate for our users
  • Interpret requirements, design flows, wireframes, testable prototypes and fully fleshed out designs to create elegant, accessible front-end experiences
  • Effectively demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Build and demonstrate knowledge of one or more product verticals to expand the depth, breadth, and scope of existing and future client engagements for key strategic, product offerings.

Qualifications

What you will need:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a mobile UI development role
  • B.S. or M.S. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • Experience working in (or closely with) product design teams as this is not a pure technology/software engineering role.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following technologies, Kotlin/Java, Swift, Dart
  • Experience with modern mobile app platforms such as Flutter or native Android/iOS SDKs
  • Experiencing writing accessible code, including for common UI patterns (WCAG 2.1 AA and ARIA)
  • Mobile application architecture, mobile platform standards and accessibility best practices
  • Experience with prototyping practices and tools such as Figma.
  • Responsive design and mobile animation principles
  • Fully fluent in English and able to understand and be easily understood in English

 

What will also help:

  • Experience implementing pixel perfect layouts and UI components for native mobile
  • Experience building mobile applications that consume REST services
  • Experience working with SCRUM in an Agile environment a plus
  • Subject Matter Expertise in Accessibility (508/WCAG) a plus
  • Experience building UIs and components with web technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React
  • Direct relevant experience in B2B2C product design and or payment / technology firms.
