Job Description
The Director, VBS NA Commercial Product Solutions is responsible for delivering compelling products and solutions to solve payment, cash flow and working capital needs for small to large businesses and public sector organizations in North America that deliver meaningful value for our customers and partners. This role requires a strong sense of ownership, vision, curiosity, critical thinking, creative problem solving, breadth of knowledge and thought leadership.
To thrive in this role, the candidate will lead by example, enable, inspire and collaborate effectively in a matrixed environment while developing and roll out products and solutions.
The successful candidate will have an understanding product development methodologies (e.g. Agile development framework), the B2B payments ecosystem (Issuing and Acquiring Banks, Financial Technology companies and Payment Service Providers). They will be experienced with products and tools used by SME, Corporations and Public Sector entities to manage business needs (e.g. expense management solutions, accounting packages, Enterprise Resource Planning systems and HR applications), finances (e.g. Business Banking tools, DDA and Checking accounts), cash management products (e.g. liquidity management, payables and receivables solutions), Commercial Cards (e.g. credit, debit, prepaid, online reporting and digital solutions) and fleet and logistics services (e.g. Vehicle fuel and maintenance programs).
Responsibilities
- Work in partnership within Visa Business Solutions to ideate, design and identified new products and solutions opportunities (e.g. Online card, spend and expense management solutions, mobile and digital payment applications, accounts payables and receivables platforms and/or accounting and cash management software)
- Defines, develops, launches, owns, maintains, and refines Commercial Products and Solutions while partnering with stakeholders across North American & Global small business, commercial, fleet and public sector teams to identify needs, gaps and strategic fit for products
- Work collaboratively with internal regional and global partners across Visa Business Solutions and other global product groups to support product enhancements, ideation, launch and related business initiatives
- Work with Product and Platforms leadership on defining go-to-market strategies and collaborates on the product roadmap for North America
- Translates market needs and business case into business requirements; user stories; personas; payment flows; set plays; solution design; market messaging and other deliverables as needed
- Lead, manage, collaborate with other business leads on operational aspects of core products including Operating Regulations and Pricing (credit, debit, prepaid)
- Closely aligns with Account Executives and segment leads to develop and support client facing product discussions
- Support product management functions for existing B2B Products and Solutions and advocate for market driven features, functions or other innovative capabilities needed
- Partner with internal risk, legal, policy and regulatory groups to keep a current view on the landscape and when launching new products and solutions or enhancements
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Proven experience in launching new solutions and solving business problems for SME, Large Corporations and Public Sector entities
- Experienced with online and digital products that support Commercial Cards, ACH, Real-Time Payments, Cross-Border Payments and/or other emerging payments rails
- Proven experience in all aspects of product lifecycle management and the ability to lead strategic to tactical discussions as well as bridge business and technical teams
- 10 years of product management/product strategy experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding of payment systems (card networks, ACH, RTP, digital wallets)
- Experience with payment network, banks, payment processors or financial technology software providers – fleet payments experience is a plus
- Strong analytical skills with experience conducting market research, building pro-forma financial models, developing hypotheses based on unstructured data, validate the hypothesis, and provide recommendations
- Effective communication skills, storytelling, strong presentation skills, executive presence, and ability to explain complex business and technical concepts to broad audiences and C-suite individuals in an engaging way
- Detail oriented and highly execution focused by working in conjunction with various counterparts across multiple functional groups
- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work internally across business, technology, and delivery teams, and externally with clients and other stakeholders
- Ability to quickly learn about the internal Visa solutions, processes, culture, leadership principles and how it all works together and embrace changes in an ecosystem that is rapidly evolving
- Ability to manage, and coordinate across complex cross-functional teams including technical and non-technical resources
- Strong results-oriented leader; analytic and fact-based consultative discipline demonstrating a growth mindset
- Adds value to customers by insightful and thoughtful questioning, offering new ideas, and delivering solutions

Additional Information
Primary work location is strongly preferred to be close to the Visa Highlands Ranch, San Francisco, Ashburn, Austin or Toronto office.
Work Hours
Incumbent must make themselves available during core business hours.
Physical Requirements
This position, in future, may be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
