Job Description
This position’s primary function is to be responsible for the direction and implementation of the onsite POS and ATM infrastructure in support of Visa Inc’s contractual rights and sponsorship of the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 and FIFA World Cup 2022 both in Qatar. This position will be primarily responsible for managing the partnership with chosen Bank (QNB) and its acquiring partners to support the payment infrastructure, with identified Qatar 2022 vendors to ensure successful implementation of a reliable and visibly impactful Visa network to ensure Visa cardholders attending the tournament will have a positive payment or cash withdrawal experience.
This role will be a support function for the Global Visa FIFA team in the host country and CEMEA region in overseeing key FIFA activities and supporting other workstreams related to the event, thus maximizing the business opportunity. This will involve the integration of all Visa stakeholders to leverage the sponsorship opportunity at both the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 and FIFA World Cup 2022 in conjunction with the regional Head of Sponsorship. They will be asked to represent global Visa FIFA Team as the day-to-day on-the ground contact with all external parties including serving as the on-ground contact with FIFA, Supreme Committee and other parties contracted to deliver Visa’s rights.
This position should have experience and expertise in the payment acceptance industry with excellent project management skills. This is an FTE position for the duration of the project and will be based in Doha. This person will report to the US based Global Sponsorship Strategy Project Operations Lead and will hire a Project Coordinator (TBD) to support the infrastructure efforts approximately a year before the Tournament.
Term: May 2021 – Feb 2023
Infrastructure Project Management (85%):
Develop and manage relationship with selected acquirer(s) for the plan and implementation of ATM/POS infrastructure onsite at all FIFA sites including Stadiums, IBC, FIFA Fan Festival etc) at both tournaments
Build requirements based on global and Qatari business strategies, project plans and manage contracts of the selected vendors project team to ensure adequate support and management of the project
Responsible for ensuring that rigorous testing of all software and hardware components takes place to ensure Visa product acceptance
Manage and track event time telecommunications and power requirements
Develop ATM implementation plan including ATM locations within venues
Develop POS/ATM Help Desk plan with acquirers and event time maintenance plan
Responsible for development and schedule of merchant training for POS
Consult with country, regional, and global CSS, product, risk, and other appropriate Visa teams to ensure a reliable network and appropriate Visa product acceptance
Act as Visa project lead with FIFA/SC, merchandise and food and beverage vendors and any other appropriate parties on the ground.
Support and implement any Non-Visa cardholder alternative product solution at tournament time in all sites.
Develop and manage project budget and process invoices with the appropriate Visa finance/accounting staff.
Develop staffing plan pre event and during event
Work with vendors to identify appropriate staff to support onsite efforts
Develop staffing schedule for event time
Develop credential plan for relevant staff
Develop and execute staff training
Participate and provide monthly/weekly project status to Global FIFA Operations Task Force and then attend daily TF during tournament time
Support and provide information to Look of Football (LOF) team on developing onsite POS and ATM graphic applications
Work with Logistics team to ensure logistics needs are met for the following: accommodations, credentials, housing, uniforms, training, communications etc to successful deliver their onsite staffing needs
Manage and direct staff before, during and after the event
Produce a wrap up report for both events
Additional Role (15%):
Act as the facilitator between Visa FIFA leads in USA/ London, Visa offices in Doha and Dubai, and all the relevant local departments within Visa activating the event.
Support and guide host market activation planning that uses the sponsorship platform to deliver and enhance Visa Qatar’s core business objectives/deliverables
Represent Visa at FIFA World Cup partnership meetings as required and act as the local Visa Inc. liaison with locally based domestic and major event sponsors and external parties
Qualifications
Knowledge and experience in the card acceptance industry in Middle East/Qatar
University degree in IT or equivalent expertise in the IT industry
Excellent project management skills
Knowledge of the global financial services/acquiring
Global sporting/entertainment related experience would be beneficial but not essential
Self-starter, comfortable working independently, detail oriented
Proven ability to prioritize workloads, manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive results
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with client management and relationship experience preferred
Proven ability to manage and lead teams toward common goals
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to travel locally and globally if required
Excellent English speaking, presentation and writing skills
