Job Description

The Global Interchange and Pricing group is responsible for strategy development, pricing and interchange for Visa’s business globally.

This Sr. Director position will be responsible for leading high complexity interchange and pricing projects involving changes to our internal processing systems.  This role will be recognized as a Global subject matter expert providing support and direction to internal and external stakeholders on interchange processing logic and eligibility criteria.  Individual will act as a central point of contact for client facing teams, systems architecture, development teams and external stakeholders.  This individual will also lead a team responsible for developing and applying expert knowledge of Visa systems to drive company pricing initiatives and LAC interchange projects to completion.  Additional responsibilities include analyzing and integrating the diverse factors surrounding a system change, defining the best approach and working within the limits of budget and schedule.

The ideal candidate must have strong leadership skills, be an analytical and structured thinker, a creative problem solver, with the ability to synthesize and communicate findings to different audiences. The individual will work with many different stakeholders and global teams.  The position will preferably be based in Foster City, California but other locations might be considered. Some travel is expected.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the implementation of strategic global programs and expand existing interchange processing capacities to new markets.
  • Support of Visa’s global interchange strategy and collaborate with peers and senior leaders to align strategies and ensure proper coordination and messaging where appropriate.
  • Continuously review interchange programs capabilities and recommend, develop and implement new and creative approaches to continue supporting growing company business needs.
  • Support the introduction, and expansion, of new capabilities and services such as Visa Direct, Token Processing, and Account Level Processing 
  • Use in-depth processing, technology and business knowledge to assist internal stakeholders on interchange structures and programs support
  • Maintain subject matter expertise of Visa core system capabilities and services through training, work experience and/or self-study
  • Stay abreast of new rules, products and services, and industry and technology trends in support of Visa strategic goals and Client initiatives
  • Interact effectively with all levels of Visa management and staff, including other internal and external stakeholder in markets supporting LAC and International Markets
  • Define Business Requirements for new Interchange programs or enhancements to existing Global and LAC Region interchange fee structures
  • Review technical designs, testing documents and user acceptance logs to ensure business requirements are met and projects are implemented successfully
  • Produce and maintain technical Interchange documentation working with technical writers, as needed

Team Leadership – Sr. Director Role

  • Lead a team responsible for the implementation of companywide pricing initiatives and interchange projects of for LAC region
  • Instill a mindset of continuous learning within the team.  Consistently raise the bar, ensuring growth and development for members of the team, with the goal of ensuring that Visa is bringing the best and brightest talent and solutions to drive our business
  • Build subject matter expertise within the team and ensure team is able to deliver results effectively and in a self-sufficient way
  • Ensure that the team delivers with a high degree of professionalism and integrity, portraying a collaborative mind set within and outside of the team

Qualifications

Basic:

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD); or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred:

  • Bachelors/Degree or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of 12+ years progressively responsible business roles with experience in card payments industry, card processing with a minimum of 5 years of interchange processing experience is preferred
  • Highly motivated to drive individual learning toward a deep understanding of Visa Core systems
  • Very strong collaboration skills are required.  The candidate must be able to manage projects in collaboration with product owners who will be responsible for the core strategies.  The candidate must be adept at finding common ground among different points of view. 
  • Ability to translate complex business  needs into practical processing solutions appropriate for Visa and its clients
  • Flexible and creative thinker with the ability to define business tradeoffs, generate out-of-the-box solutions and manage uncertainty
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to synthesize and organize data/information
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal) with colleagues across functional areas and with senior management and clients
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and  presentation skills; proven ability to influence and communicate effectively
  • Excellent planning, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills with ability to drive consensus in cross regional and cross functional teams
  • Previous consulting experience to Product Leadership roles will be a plus
