Job Description

As part of Visa’s Global Corporate Communications team, the Senior Manager will support strategic projects and drive execution to help enhance trust in Visa around the world, including:

  • Advance global crisis communications and issues management plans by identifying and tracking potential threats to the organization and assisting with the development of protocols to mitigate those threats.
  • Serve as liaison to the company’s cross-functional crisis response group, which requires instant engagement, focus and execution under pressure – in addition to rotating coverage after business hours.
  • Drive end-to-end execution and communication response efforts across a range of issues impacting Visa’s business and brand.
  • Develop and execute against a consistent framework for issues management response efforts and communications.
  • Ongoing engagement with reporters on challenging issues.
  • Regularly conduct vulnerability assessments and develop contingency plans to address the most pressing potential scenarios.
  • Undertake reputation research and provide insights and analysis of critical business issues.

Qualifications

Basic: 

  • 8 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 5 or more years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred:

  • Experience applying best practices related to crisis preparation and response; constantly thinking about innovating and always looking to do things better.
  • Track record of successfully managing communications during times of crisis in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Media relations skills; experience as a company spokesperson is helpful.
  • Calm and cool under pressure. Attention to detail is critical.
  • Understanding of how to use data and research to drive planning.
  • Experience partnering with legal, risk, government engagement and other cross-functional partners.
  • Experience in payments or financial services industry a plus.
  • Skilled at using social media / content creation to advance reputation goals and in response to crisis situations.
  • Bachelor’s degree; minimum 10 years communication experience.

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
