Job Description

The Director, in the Regulatory and Risk Governance (RRG) team position is a hands-on role primarily responsible for supporting the RRG team on global supervision management and regulatory support matters. In addition, the role will also support the team on risk governance programs and projects. This position will report to the RRG Vice President (RRG VP) and will be based at Visa’s office located in Foster City, California.

The Director will assist the RRG VP to evolve and expand the Global Supervisory Engagement Model through close collaboration with the RRG VP and Leads in the global supervision management.  The Director will support the RRG Leadership to drive global engagement and operationalize the Global Supervisory Engagement Model.

The Director may also provide support to the US supervisory management as required, to ensure legal and regulatory obligations and expectations are met with our primary regulator.

In addition to the primary responsibility, the person in this role may be called on to support the team on other RRG work streams as needed.

Description and primary responsibilities

  • The Director will assist the team with initiatives to operationalize the Global Supervisory Engagement Model, including:o   Track global supervisory, obligations and engagements in coordination with RRG Senior Directors and supervision leads in the regions.
    • Manage metrics regarding trends and supervisory impact.
    • Manage repository for information used to respond to regulatory inquiries or consultations.
    • Develop presentations and reporting to Management and governing bodies
  • Foster partnerships with Regional Supervision Leads to ensure appropriate implementation and maintenance of the Supervisory RACI and support, when necessary regions to address supervisory expectations.
  • Create insights on regulatory and supervisory topics for effective business response and mature risk governance practices to support supervisory engagements globally and to manage the growing interest from multiple regulators.
  • Align with the RRG VP and other RRG Leadership on a consistent approach for topics that become trends across the regions and follow up with Regional Supervision Leads key trends.
  • Coordinate with regional subject-matter experts to develop appropriate responses to common inquiries from regulators.
  • Assist with development of communications, presentations, and training materials.
  • Maintain documentation on regulatory requests supported and responses provided.
  • Assist with the RRG to lead the of cross functional steering committee on supervision.
  • Support US supervisory activities as needed in order to address emerging regulatory expectations and areas of focus from the US Regulator, the Federal Banking Agencies (“FBA”), also known as Federal Financial Institutions Examinations Council (“FFIEC”).
  • Assist the RRG VP in governance matters related to Visa Technology Operations LLC.
  • Support additional Risk Governance projects and initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

Basic Qualificaitons

  • 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or
  • At least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or
  • At least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Prefered Qualifications

  • 9+ years of relevant experience in one of the following functions: Corporate/Risk Governance, Risk Management, Compliance, Audit, Regulatory Management, Legal or related areas.
  • Capable of comfortably leading meetings, delivering presentations and interact with all hierarchy levels
  • Able to pursue multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Experience with regulations and guidelines related to payments networks, financial institutions, digital payments industry, including emerging payment system regulation/supervision.
  • Data driven and experience with analytics.
  • Experience preparing/reviewing/delivering executive level communications.
  • Experience in payments/banking or related segments, or alternately, good understanding of payments business and associated risks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written). Working knowledge on other languages would be a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Power Point, Excel, Word and Outlook.

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
