Job Description

The Global Safety Director oversees the Global Safety, Health and Environmental Program which includes managing the ergonomist and contract safety team. Leads global planning and implementation of Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Program for Visa Inc.’s geographies, working closely with internal stakeholders.  Has extensive knowledge of OSHA, NFPA and ANSI standards. 

Essential Functions:

  • Manages the SHE (safety-health-environmental) team consisting of staff, consultants and BPO’s located in Singapore, United States and the United Kingdom in providing safety assistance and guidance to prevent injuries and work-related illnesses on Visa Inc. properties

  • You will provide guidance and regulatory advice on Visa Inc.’s Global SHE policy and program to key partners and stakeholders

  • Facilitates and fosters internal customer relationships with key stakeholders in Visa Inc.’s geographies (AP, CEMEA, LAC, UK/Europe and North America)

  • You will oversee the Ergonomics Program with Visa Ergonomist to ensure a low incident rate of injuries due to improper setup and use of computer workstations

  • Manages and monitors global safety training to ensure compliance with HR, Legal, and Global Compliance requirements globally

  • Implements and monitors international working groups and committees, and develops staff to be proactive in identifying and mitigating safety issues

  • You will oversee, manage and investigate work-related injuries, illnesses and near misses globally

  • You will manages budgets within forecast for safety vendors

  • Facilitates and promotes collaboration between offices through Regional Safety Committee meetings

  • You will manage and conduct safety and regulatory reviews of Visa’s global portfolio of offices to comply with OSHA and regulatory provisions

  • Promotes and enhances working relationships with data center engineers through bi-monthly meetings and trainings to ensure safe working environments

  • You will provide annual updates to the Operational Risk Sub-Committee and Chief Compliance Officer regarding mitigation initiatives associated with the SHE Program.

  • Regularly communicates with Regional Security Directors regarding safety protocols and procedures

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA) 
  • Certified Safety Professional preferred or ability to complete

Preferred qualifications:

  • 12+ years of work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or at least 8-10 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD.
  • Industry certifications and memberships such as Certified Industrial Hygienist, NFPA, OSHA and ANSI
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior leadership
  • Knowledge of construction and general industry OSHA regulations

Flexible Location

This position can be location in another VISA office (including Denver,CO, Ashburn, VA or Austin TX)

Additional Information

Work Hours:

  • This position requires the incumbent to be available during core business hours.  Able to work and take calls days, evenings, weekends and holidays, as necessary.  

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires approximately 30% travel from their work location.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds
