Job Description

Team Summary
The Digital Solutions team is a client facing group that sets Visa’s digital agenda, and manages the development and delivery of Visa’s digital solutions in partnership with clients, industry leading brands and technology platform providers. The team is closely coordinated with the regional Digital Solutions team and works in partnership with client leads across Customer Relationship Management, Merchant Sales & Acquiring, Product & Solutions and Digital Partnerships teams to identify client needs and opportunities to deploy Visa solutions.

What a Head of Digital Solutions does at Visa

The Head of Digital Solutions has primary ownership and accountability for bringing to market new Visa developed technology to ensure Visa continues to hold its leadership position in driving the growth of digital payments in the region. This role requires an experienced product management professional who has demonstrated thought leadership in development and management of the digital strategy for large organizations.

As a member of the Products & Solutions leadership team in Japan, the Head of Digital Solutions must possess solid technical and functional understanding of payment systems, protocols and frameworks, and must be balanced with both business acumen and commercial instincts. Familiarity with technologies and systems used in payments, mobile and e-commerce; specifically, in areas of 3-D Secure, EMV, authentication, NFC, tokenization, remote payments, money transfers and push payments, as well as working knowledge of system interconnection methods (APIs, SDKs, ISO messages etc.), is essential. The candidate must also have strong coordination and project management skills to effectively deliver on large cross-functional projects working with colleagues and partners across multiple geographies and time zones. The role also entails the development and management of a team of product management professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Establish yourself as a digital payments and commerce expert and be the owner of digital strategy for the Japan market; lead the go-to-market activities (i.e. commercialisation) of new digital products and capabilities that meet unique market requirements
  • Manage a team responsible for developing and deploying the suite of digital capabilities, which support Visa’s goal to drive digital credential and usage growth by motivating, coaching, mentoring and supporting them to function as a high performing team
  • Partner with Account Executives to develop and execute account strategies, objectives and plans to increase revenue and market share. Engage with clients across the ecosystem – both financial and non-financial institutions – to identify client needs and be actively involved in the implementation of our clients’ digital agenda
  • Engage in thought leadership with internal and external stakeholders including participation in industry events, regulator and government engagement to formulate strategy to drive regulation change where needed
  • Work closely with the regional and global product teams to a) ensure product specifications and pricing are appropriate for the market, and b) to share learnings and insights to other markets, and build a community of like professionals
  • Track and meet financial and business metric performance indicators, continually be focused on ensuring that Visa’s digital products and solutions deployed in the market meet all relevant consumer and merchant payment needs

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 15 years’ business experience in the payments, mobile, software, hardware or technology services industry  
  • Experience in managing a broad portfolio of products/solutions (preferably digital) through the entire lifecycle; demonstrated leadership in new product development and commercialisation
  • Deep technical knowledge of payment technologies related to eCommerce, Tokenization, EMV, NFC, Mobile, IOT etc.
  • Flexible and proactive trouble-shooting capabilities with the ability to manage diverse groups organized within different organizational reporting lines
  • Demonstrated track record of planning, managing and delivering on complex cross functional projects from conceptualization to launch
  • Executive presence; strong written and oral communication, including large-group presentations
  • Proven record of implementing strategic initiatives, policies and operational decisions
  • Strategic thinker who can balance big picture strategy and detailed, flawless execution
  • Exceptional collaboration and influencing skills with the ability to drive consensus in regional and cross-functional teams.
  • Track record of leading and developing people
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA is a plus
  • Bi-lingual business level language ability in Japanese and English
