Job Description

To ensure that Visa’s payment technology is truly available to everyone, everywhere requires the success of our key bank or merchant partners and internal business units. The Global Data engineering group supports these partners by using our extraordinarily rich data set that spans more than 3 billion cards globally and captures more than 100 billion transactions in a single year. Our focus lies on building creative solutions that have an immediate impact on the business of our highly analytical partners. We work in complementary teams comprising members from Data Science and various groups at Visa. To support our rapidly growing group we are looking for data engineers who are equally passionate about the opportunity to use Visa’s rich data to tackle meaningful business problems. This position will be part of Data Engineering and Technology function. We are looking for expertise in Managing scrum teams and leading agile practice by using latest scrum tools and technologies.  The Scrum master takes responsibility for helping various data engineering units in their agile practice and support them in writing epics/features/stories. The position is based at Visa's offices in Bangalore, India.

 

Essential Functions

  • Managing agile practices for data engineering teams across the regions.

  • To implement agile metrics and use these metrics to help teams identify opportunities for improvement in Retrospective meetings.

  • Program increment planning to effectively manage ambiguity and competing priorities. Help teams prioritize and focus on deliverables in the current sprint.

  • Tracking projects to completion and organizing planning and retrospective meetings.

  • To empower teams to work together on product delivery for products requiring coordination of multiple data engineering units.

  • Provide guidance for agile process improvement initiatives to include creating, updating and socializing standards, processes, procedures, template and guidelines.

Qualifications

4+ yrs. work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years of work experience with a Master's or Advanced Degree

 

Required skills and general qualities:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as Scrum Master in software product development setting and delivery model.

  • 4+ years of experience on Agile development teams in a matrixed organization

  • Deep understanding of Agile development process/best practices and the ability to drive for results

  • Keen ability to establish and continually cultivate positive relationships with various stakeholders

  • Ability to challenge teams to break down stories/tasks into reasonable sizes so that work can be delivered each Sprint.

  • Understanding and some experience working in a traditional project management environment

  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, cross-functional scrum teams and working with Jira/Confluence

  • Ability to translate data and technical concepts into requirements documents, business cases and user stories.

  • Good communication and presentation skills with ability to interact with different cross-functional team members at varying levels

  • Ability to learn new tools and paradigms as data science continues to evolve at Visa and elsewhere.

  • Intellectually curious and continuously striving to learn.

  • Certified Scrum Master certification preferred.

Travel Requirements

This position requires incumbent to travel for work 0-5% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
