Job Description
Visa Global Product Design is seeking an experienced, hands-on Design Research Manager with strong capabilities in user research and the design of engaging user experiences. This is an individual contributor role that involves managing research and not people. The Design Research Manager will:
Create, improve, and lead UX strategy for B2B applications for web/mobile
Contribute and support strategic goals of the organization
Act as a change agent, sparking fresh ideas that are infused in our culture and our products
Foster collaboration both inside and outside the team
Juggle several high-level projects while delivering A-level work on all of them
Justify research and design decisions based on a thorough understanding of contemporary user-centered design methodologies
Represent the team successfully with all types of stakeholders
Mentor other design researchers and lead by example in delivering excellent individual work
Be an advocate for our employees and partners
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 4 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD degree
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years in related professional work experience is preferred.
Experience researching tools for use in an enterprise environment.
Experience working with complex business and functional requirements.
Experience working with data visualization and reporting.
Experience facilitating design thinking workshops.
Expert knowledge of user research tools and techniques.
Strong independent problem-solving skills, self-direction, and innovative thinking
Ability to evaluate a website or application based on a given script or set of guidelines and produce a clear and concise recommendations deliverable.
Excellent analytical abilities and attention to detail.
Experience managing stakeholder relationships
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
Fully fluent in English and able to understand and be easily understood in spoken and written English.
Ability to work independently and manage one's time.
Knowledgeable about accessibility guidelines and best practices.
Experience and understanding of Product Management and the agile process.
Cross-functional team leadership experience required with demonstrated results.
Experience in leading more than one global-scale project and project teams.
A strong practical point of view of User Experience.
Experience with UX research techniques.
Understanding of UX and the design techniques and principles involved in the production of conceptual prototypes, wireframes, and HTML prototypes.
Knowledge of Web Standards and Accessibility a plus.
Knowledge of Omnigraffle, Sketch, InVision & Adobe products a plus.
Additional Information
Essential Functions
Work closely with product managers to create UX strategies driven by business goals & priorities
Propose & carry out UX research roadmaps
Lead design thinking workshops
Analyze existing applications for usability issues and provide recommendations for improvement
Manage stakeholder relationships
Plan & lead design research studies
Quickly propose possible solutions to UX issues to guide design
Create user flows and wireframes occasionally as necessary
Work and communicate effectively with a diverse team of product owners, designers, and developers
Work Hours
Incumbent must make themselves available during core business hours
Travel Requirements
This position requires the incumbent to travel for work up to 10% of the time
Physical Requirements
This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
