Job Description
Identity & Risk Products focuses on building and deploying innovative technologies to enable and secure Visa transactions around the globe. Our mission is to launch new, market-leading offerings that create tremendous value for our clients (e.g. Issuers, Acquirers, Merchants, Processors, and Emerging Payments Providers). To effect this transformation across the globe, we are looking for leaders who are passionate about innovating and delivering truly differentiated product offerings which help identify and mitigate financial fraud as well as maximize approvals of legitimate transactions.
Successful execution of this role will be achieved through a combination of leadership, payments and delivery knowledge, strong communication and product commercialization skills and applied strategy in financial fraud predictive analytic product offerings. This individual will work with experts throughout the company to identify, prioritize and develop new fraud detection and authentication products and optimize Visa’s existing fraud detection and authentication capabilities. Responsibilities include managing inflight scoring models, pattern detection capabilities, improving the performance of existing products and developing innovative fraud, authentication and authorization solutions. The position is also responsible for continuously creating and protecting analytic IP resulting from project learnings.
Individual will drive new product commercialization to target levels of adoption and utilization. In addition, this role will contribute to the overall strategic vision, planning and operation of Visa Identity and Risk Product solution portfolio.
This is a matrixed, cross functional role, so organizational savvy and interpersonal skills are critical. This role will interface across all regions and multiple markets and engage with specialized product groups, financial institution sales, merchant sales, client consulting, operations, technology, risk, analytics, marketing and corporate communications, legal, corporate strategy, interchange/pricing, finance to coordinate the build, launch and support of new and existing products. Visa is looking for an individual that pays attention to detail, with a proven track record of success in fast-paced environments with demanding timelines, an ability to correlate data and trends to business drivers, but who can also think big and contribute to strategic planning, drive change management and lead executive messaging.
This position could be located in either Foster City or San Francisco
This position may require occasional travel to client sites and Visa sites around the globe.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 12 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree; 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD); or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
15+ years of experience in product development and model development/analytics
Proven experience and understanding of product development methodologies
Experience in consumer payments with an emphasis on remote payments
- Proficient understanding of statistics and predictive models including neural networks, logistic regression, decision trees and other advanced machine learning techniques. This role requires a thorough understanding of the process and methodologies involved in model development.
Demonstrated track record of developing product strategies based on business objectives and coordinating the successful implementation to deliver measurable business results
Attention to detail and quality on both internal team work and external products brought to market
Hands-on and consistently turn strategies into execution and results
Flexible and creative thinker with the ability to define business tradeoffs, generate out-of-the-box solutions and manage uncertainty

Additional Information
Essential Functions
Successful candidate will be responsible for leading the team responsible for day-to-day product management of Risk Product’s core risk models which includes product performance, global commercialization and client engagement
Drive improvements of predictive models to increase deeper insights into products with advanced statistical analysis on both financial and non-financial data
Regularly review client landscape and recommend, develop and implement new and creative approaches to expanding product capabilities
Develop and manage Visa’s Models-on-Demand offering available to Issuers, merchants and non-financial institution partners
Lead the design, development and management of innovative fraud and authentication solutions spanning developed and emerging products and markets
Contribute to the product development process from ideation through market adoption
Develop business cases for new analytic product development via sound market, statistical, and data analyses
Identify, create and support new revenue sources through the development of new fraud risk products and solutions
Assist with the development and execution of short-term, intermediate, and long-term strategic business development plans for Visa’s fraud risk and authentication products
Establish and maintain strong communications with our development teams, predictive analytic teams, issuers, acquirers, merchants and other partners
- Capture, develop, and deliver ideas/processes that improve Visa’s patent portfolio
Physical Requirements
This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
Work Hours
Incumbent must make themselves available for meetings with clients and Visa regional teams early morning and evenings occasionally as needed
Travel Requirements
This position requires the incumbent to travel for work 10% of the time.
