Job Description

The Director, Debit, Prepaid, and Fintech Product Strategy is responsible for driving Visa’s Prepaid and Fintech product strategy in North America, while supporting the head of U.S. Debit on strategic initiatives.

As the Director of Debit, Prepaid, and Fintech Product Strategy, this role will be responsible for delivering against Visa’s product roadmap, including market expansion, and go-to-market activities across multiple key debit, prepaid, and Fintech initiatives across North America.

Visa’s Debit and Prepaid products annually drive a large amount of payment volume and generate significant net revenue for Visa. Our issuing and Fintech partners utilize these products to serve the needs of hundreds of millions cardholders, ensuring that consumers can access their funds at millions of face-to-face and online merchants that accept Visa.

As the Director of Debit, Prepaid, and Fintech Product Strategy, this role will work very closely with the Head of U.S. Debit to drive Visa’s product roadmap. This will include extensive engagements with senior members of the North America Management team. In addition, this high performer will support a cross-functional team that is responsible for engaging with various stakeholders across the payments industry, including interactions with merchants, issuers, Fintechs, regulators, and other players in the market, while also focusing on emerging payment solutions.

This is a critical position in the Debit and Prepaid organization reporting directly to the Head of North America Debit and Prepaid.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and deliver new and emerging use cases by partnering with Fintech’s in the U.S.
  • Enable gig economy disbursements by capturing on demand delivery payments and gig worker wage disbursements
  • Manage general purpose reloadable segment, while thinking strategically about how to support clients as they seek to migrate from GPR to a traditional debit product
  • Partner with sales to accelerate growth in Visa’s debit and prepaid products
  • Support a large cross-functional team that is focused on Visa’s US Debit Strategy 3.0
  • Drive and incorporate new feature functionality to expand usage of debit and prepaid products.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert/ Product engage with issuing clients and across the Visa organization in North America
  • Support Visa’s merchant engagement efforts around debit and prepaid acceptance solutions products.
  • Serve as the business Subject Matter Expert for Visa’s client engagement on prepaid and alternative debit products
  • Drive product development to increase the ways in which Visa’s debit and prepaid products are presented, consumed and interacted-with digitally
  • Build new capabilities to differentiate Visa’s Debit and Prepaid offering
  • Drive new growth initiatives for North America
  • Support implementing new acceptance vertical strategies and solutions, including optimizing prepaid the growing CNP channel
  • Form senior level relationships across and outside the Visa organization
  • Have a deep understanding of the needs of cardholders, issuing banks and merchants, including the economic drivers that motivate marketplace participants 

Travel Requirements  This position requires the incumbent to travel for work 10-20% of the time.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with a Masters/MBA/JD/MD or at least 5 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5-7+ years’ experience in a product or strategy role
  • Experience within financial services
  • Experience working in a large cross-functional product team
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing product roadmaps
  • Excellent analytical (qualitative and quantitative) fluency
  • Proven leadership capabilities including strong thought leadership, effective decision making, strategy development and ability to drive results
  • Proactive and effective communicator, experienced in presenting information to all levels and with ability to facilitate large group discussions
  • Superior strategic thinking ability to assess complex business environments and translate into
    actionable business plans and executions
  • Strong collaboration and ability to manage cross functionally
  • Ability to influence at senior levels

    • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
