Job Description

General Summary

The role will support the Sr. Payroll Manager in managing payroll tax and compliance processes to ensure federal, state, and local payroll regulations are being followed as well as company policies, procedures, and internal controls.

 Essential Duties:

  • Manage activities related to payroll tax, compliance and reporting.

  • Manage the ADP filing processes for federal, state and local tax returns and deposits to meet statutory deadlines in a timely manner to prevent incurring penalties and interest for noncompliance.

  • Accountability for audit support, compliance support, governance with key business partners, driving process improvement and automation.

  • Analyze complex payroll tax and compliance problems and make recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Assist with vendor relationships to deliver timely, accurate and compliant processing

  • Assist with the design and implementation of proper segregation of duties, controls, and internal self-audits.

  • Collaborate with Internal Audit team to provide compliance reporting and process controls while ensuring no high-risk audit comments.

  • Create routines and collaborative partnerships to document and share best practices broadly understand business partners' needs and effectively propose recommendations.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 5 years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 3 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD)

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 5-7+ years relevant experience of payroll tax and compliance experience preferably in a mid to large (9,000+ FTE) technology, finance and or corporate environment

  • Preferred Education: BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or Human Resources or

  • Knowledge of federal and state tax reporting requirements and regulations

  • Experience in designing, implementing and reviewing internal controls aimed at reducing operational risk

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and vendors

  • Strong client service focus; able to develop strong working relationships with team, internal partners and vendors to deliver high quality service

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Designation is desired

Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
