Job Description

 

The VisaNet Platform & Reliability Engineering organization is responsible for software development, platform engineering, and production support of the world’s largest and most reliable global payments processing engine. The Visa Integrated Payments (VIP) system supports authorization processing for Visa's worldwide consumer credit and debit products, as well as a large suite of commercial products.  Every day during the busiest hours, the VIP system processes thousands of transactions per second across multiple, geographically diverse operational centers.

Passionate about technology, the successful candidate will be a talented, technical, proactive, energetic person who embraces challenges and is a proven problem solver to develop and support the VisaNet Integrated Payment System (VIP) in the Systems & Middleware division.   

The objective is to provide high quality technical expertise and guidance for applications running on this platform. Effectively communicating issues, solutions and performance/capacity metrics; and maintaining the stability of the platform through build, test, and production phases. As a Mainframe Systems Engineer, you will work with other System Engineers, Applications Programmers, and support teams to perform daily activities ranging in complexity and be responsible for the installation, configuration, upkeep and reliable operation of one or more environments. You will own and drive projects from start (gathering requirements) to finish (release into production). 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance system and middleware software on the zTPF and or zLinux platforms to meet Visa's business requirements

  • Provide support and problem resolution for the production VIP (Visa Integrated Payment) and OVN (Open Visa Network) systems

  • Develop interfaces to leverage emerging technologies in the zTPF and zLinux environments

  • Coordinate efforts across multiple organizations/teams.

  • Lead a team of your peers and less seasoned developers to accomplish common goals

  • Communicate effectively across the organization to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders

 

Qualifications

 

Basic Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science with 10+ years of z/TPF Mainframe System Engineering and Software Development Experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge with z/TPF Technologies, Assembler and C/C++ Programming services

  • Extensive experience with TCP/IP communication protocol.  Working knowledge of MQ Series, HTTP, and SOAP desired

  • Expert knowledge of VPARS, TPF toolkit and debugger, and testing zTPF software in a VM environment.

  • Ability to work effectively on multiple concurrent assignments with both technical and business staff

  • Experience with structured analysis, object-oriented analysis and distributed systems and/or client server desirable.

  • Flexibility, self-motivated, high work standards, attention to detail, ability to perform as an individual contributor or as a member or leader of a team.

  • Excellent written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
