Job Description

The position is a Principal Product Manager role, and is part of the global team within Seller Solutions which is responsible for shaping and implementing the organization’s strategies for sellers, concentrating on rules, pricing, and processing requirements

The team works collaboratively across the organization, and with acquirers and merchants to support the needs of sellers. The position will be based in San Francisco, California, and will report to the Senior Director, Seller Solutions Product Policy. The individual will support the team through program management, tracking the performance and success of programs, initiating and managing system changes, and helping manage the team’s internal and external communications. This individual also has the opportunity to manage an individual product development initiative end-to-end.

The successful candidate is expected to work with little supervision, and be the owner of processes and projects listed above. The Principal Product Manager must be capable of prioritizing activities, and working with the team to drive execution of the group’s goals as well as those belonging to the Principal Product Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 4 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD degree

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 or more years of work experience or

  • More than 4 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)

  • 3-5 years of experience in product or acceptance-related roles, preferably with a major financial institution, a global consulting firm, payment card network, or technology leader

  • Experience in data analysis, and program management

  • Ability to manage complex projects and processes with multiple stakeholders, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of projects and business problems

  • Strong collaboration skills are required.  The candidate must be able to manage projects in collaboration with product owners who will be responsible for the core strategies.  This will also require input from and collaboration with a range of internal and external stakeholders. The candidate must be adept at finding common ground among different points of view.

  • Highly organized with excellent multitasking skills and the ability to manage multiple disparate projects in parallel

  • Enjoys an environment of investigation, fact finding and validation.

 

Additional Information

 

Essential Functions

  • Program management – tracking the team’s deliverables and communicating to the team

  • Identifying methods to track the success of new programs, and executing on that plan

  • Identify Visa rules that no longer fit the business needs of Visa or its stakeholders, and work with appropriate stakeholders to make updates where required

  • Responsibility for managing VisaNet system changes on behalf of the team

  • Support the team’s communications goals – assisting in the development of materials and the management of materials posted online and elsewhere

  • Work with cross functional organizations across Visa to establish best practices and identify opportunities to improve process flow and structure.

     

Work Hours

 Regular business hours M-F. Flexible schedule can be worked out with hiring manager.

Travel Requirements

Occasional commute to other Visa offices in the bay area will be required. The position will require availability during core business hours. Traveling on business is not required for this position, although occasional travel for conferences and client engagements might be necessary.

Physical Requirements

  • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
