Team Overview

Visa’s Digital Partnerships, FinTech & Ventures team is responsible for identifying, structuring, and managing major strategic partnerships, alliances and commercial deals with the world’s leading digital brands. Digital Partnerships works cross-functionally with other Visa teams to structure partnerships that are typically highly complex, strategic and cross-functional in nature. Additionally, the team drives pipeline development, evaluation, and commercial agreements with companies with investment potential via Visa Ventures, and spearheads our FinTech expansion efforts. The Digital Partnerships team operates globally, covering each of Visa’s key regions including North America (NA), Latin America (LAC), Asia Pacific (AP), Europe (EU), and Central Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMEA).

Job Description

The Senior Director, Digital Partnerships, FinTech & Ventures is a highly visible, strategic, senior leadership role that will serve as the face of the Digital Partnerships team in Mexico. The Senior Director, will work closely, under a matrix-reporting structure, with the Head of Products – Mexico. 

·         Build, and lead a strong and passionate Digital Partnerships team in Mexico, ensuring that the                  team’s goals and objectives are articulated and communicated to key Visa stakeholders.

·         Serve as the senior-level main point-of-contact for named digital partners such as Facebook,                     Apple, PayPal, Stripe, etc.

·         Deepen Visa’s commercial relationships with digital partners to proactively drive new Visa-Partner            initiatives in the Mexican market, enabling the distribution and/or consumption of Visa’s                              products, solutions, credentials, etc. at scale.

·         Spearhead new business development opportunities (originating, structuring, executing) with high-            growth global, regional, or local digital brands across multiple sectors including digital                                commerce, payments, on-demand, etc.

·         Develop and drive the commercialization roadmap for Visa Venture portfolio companies                                  (YellowPepper and Conductor) and key enabler partners (NovoPayment) in Mexico.

·         Identify, engage, and structure commercial terms and support in developing the investment                         rationale for potential Visa Ventures investments.

·         Develop and execute the team’s FinTech strategy for the Mexico market with a focus on driving                commercial engagements with up and coming, high potential FinTech startups. Particular focus on            credential growth (i.e., new issuance) and acceptance opportunities within key verticals such as                 wallets, neo-banks, payment enablers, etc.

·         Identify and engage with next-gen ecosystem players (e.g., neo-processors, lifecycle                                management platforms, etc.) across the financial services (payments) value chain with which Visa            can partner, invest, or acquire.

·         Engage with cross-functional (MSA, Product, Legal, Processing, etc.) and far-flung teams to                      ensure that digital partner, FinTech, and Ventures initiatives are structured and executed within                  scope and on time.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

·         Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

·         15-18 years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree or

·         12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD or PhD)

·         Demonstrated success in identifying, executing, and managing strategic partner relationships. Experience with digital companies preferred, but not required. 

·         Ability to think “future state” and engage with high-growth digital companies through complex commercial deals, all while deepening the partner relationship with key decision makers.

·         Experience building sound business cases, partner account plans, strategic plans relevant to the market, and multi-year partnerships.

·         Ability to attract and develop top-talent from within and outside the organization to achieve goals and objectives.

·         Deep understanding of the global digital/FinTech landscape, key trends, players, and ecosystem              implications in Mexico and the rest of Latin America.

·         Strong understanding of Visa products, solutions, and capabilities with the ability to embed this                  understanding into partner discussions, commercial agreements, etc.

·         Ability to build and nurture relationships with digital partner leadership teams.

·         Excellent partner-facing communication and presentation skills in English and Spanish.

·         A track record of working cross functionally and delivering measurable results, while managing                  internal and external stakeholders.

·         Highly entrepreneurial, willingness to push the envelope and champion the need to embrace                    digital partners and reinvent processes, products, engagement approach, etc. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Essential Functions

·         Successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and building the Digital Partnerships,                  FinTech, and Ventures team’s presence and mandate in Mexico.

·         Key responsibility is to develop the processes and capabilities to  achieve the team’s goals and                objectives leveraging a broad cross-functional team, this includes:

          Business / strategy contributions

          Understanding market trends, capabilities, and  requirements

          Tracking the performance of business development and partnerships activities against market,                  regional and enterprise goals

         Partnership pipeline / Business development – across digital partners, FinTechs, etc.

Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
