Job Description

Position Summary

The Staff Software Test Engineer is part of the Clearing and Settlement Test Engineering team based in Austin, TX, USA.  We are in need of a highly motivated and skilled Staff Software Test Engineers that are passionate on using modern software engineering and testing principles to deliver robust applications to our global users.

The successful candidate will support Test Engineering efforts for the Clearing and Settlement (CAS) system, one of Visa's largest revenue generating platform and work with other peer test engineering organizations to insure seamless code releases.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop test plans and functional test cases from business requirements and conceptual documents for the Clearing and Settlement system;

  • Collaborate with peers and other stakeholders in Test design/plan review sessions;

  • Build test automation framework to support CAS System

  • Build test tools to improve quality and performance of the Clearing and Settlement system;

  • Setup, configure, and maintain test environments;

  • Provide estimates on scope and scale of effort needs to test changes;

  • Execute test cases, analyze and report test results to project team;

  • Support cross-functional teams in integration test efforts;

  • Ensure delivery of a high quality product meeting all requirements within the scheduled timeframe;

  • Report project status and issues to project managers and application managers;

  • Collaborate closely with development team to analyze, debug and resolve any application issues;

  • Implement standard processes, tools, and metrics to deliver large-scale projects from inception to conclusion that meet quantifiable business objectives;

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or a related field is required

  • 10+ years relevant work experience with functional and non-functional testing of applications under the mainframe environment.

  • Experience in SDLC methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, Iterative/Incremental)

  • 8 -10 years' comprehensive experience in

    • Mainframe

    • TSO

    • MVS JCL

    • ISPF

    • File Aid

    • COBOL

    • SQL, DB2

  • Experience with automation tools, tool development using ISPF, CLIST and REXX

  • Experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages including but not limited to: C/C++, Java, JavaScript or Go.

  • Strong oral and written communications skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work well with a team in a high performance organization

  • Knowledge and understanding of Visa's products, services and payment systems a plus
