Job Description

Location for this role is flexible, though San Francisco Bay Area is preferred

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In partnership with Global Policy, Government and Engagement and business leaders, develop thought leadership content, utilizing data, insights to develop market specific content strategies and thought leadership content plans.

  • Identify trends, content topics, and concepts for research projects and build a team capable of producing consistent, high quality publications and supporting proof points.

  • Manage team writing long-form research papers and developing supporting collateral, as well as presenting to executive audiences.

  • Collaborate with business leaders at all levels of the organization to uncover potential stories and policy-relevant insights.  

  • Articulate a positive and achievable vision for policies that spur innovation, inclusion and competitiveness.

  • Over the medium-term, create proprietary data sets that can be used to generate novel insights. Ensure full alignment of thought-leadership with business and regulatory policies.

  • Strong public speaker and presenter with a proven track record.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Undergraduate degree required. Multidisciplinary backgrounds ideal. Ideal candidate may have an MBA and a JD or a PhD in international economics or public policy, or relevant area.

  • 15+ years progressive experience developing, managing, and implementing thought leadership content, preferably in a global corporate environment, required.

  • Strong understanding of the payments business preferred. Ability to work closely with the business to receive input, collaborate, prioritize projects based on business objectives and methodology. 

  • Background in international trade, government, public affairs, digitization, finance, globalization, innovation and economics preferred.

  • Strong aptitude for highly technical subject matter such as big data, blockchain, cyber-security.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and consulting skills. Ability to assess needs, influence, collaborate, and partner at the most senior levels in the organization.

  • Experience working with a diverse group of highly technical learners and subject matter experts such as economists, product developers and strategists.

  • Media trained and accustomed to organizing, moderating, and participating in all forms of panels and round tables.

  • Experience providing commentary in prestigious news publications (such as the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, BBC, etc).

  • Highly skilled in building external partner relationships and vendor management.

  • Strong track record of publications on topics of relevance to Visa, our clients, and policymakers such as the IMF, WTO, and G20 central banks.

  • Ability to build collaborative, trustworthy relationships across functions and geographies.

  • Strong business acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Critical and strategic thinking skills, with strong focus on service excellence, efficiency, accuracy, writing, and effective project/stakeholder/relationship skills.
