Job Description

Visa is seeking an Employee Relations Manager in the Bay Area (Foster City, California) or in Austin, Texas to provide Employee Relations and performance management expertise, case management and consultation for US.   Leverages common consistent practices and processes to ensure fair and consistent treatment /approach across clients. Handles complex, high-risk or sensitive employee relations cases.

Reports to the Sr. Director, Employee Relations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Partner to address gaps in performance including drafting performance improvement plans, written warnings, and facilitating the necessary communications to drive an effective outcome.
  • Conduct workplace reviews for  complex situations, demonstrating effective listening, probing and investigatory skills with the ability to synthesize data, identify root problems/causes, and recommend actions to resolve
  • Maintain required documentation, including intake and investigative notes, supporting documents and final reports.
  • Analyze and track ER trends to proactively create a positive organizational culture and builds manager capabilities, including external trends and best practices
  • Interpret and apply understanding of corporate policies and practices, employment law, and other regulations to provide advice, guidance, or clarification for ER inquiries including workplace accommodations.
  • May serve as facilitator and apply interventions to resolve low risk employee disagreements, conflicts, or misunderstandings if needed.
  • Coaches and offers advice on employee and organizational issues in a proactive and compassionate manner
  • Uncover, assess and propose opportunities for ER process improvements
  • Independently own the design, development and execution of various ER programs, ensuring their timely and effective delivery while applying strategic thinking to iterate and scale those programs

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to make judgment calls and sound, ethical decisions displaying a heightened level of responsibility, confidentiality, integrity and professionalism
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of State including California and Federal employment practices, policies, legal & EEOC guidelines, as well as compensation, wage and hour, benefits administration. 
  • Exceptional analytical skills, comfortable working with data and communicating data findings.
  • Ability to execute both strategic and tactical priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication a must, including the ability to interface with others in a positive, approachable and professional manner
  • Strong influencing and conflict resolution skills leveraging business acumen, expertise and data.
  • Minimum 6-8 years of progressive global HR experience, with the majority of time in employee relations
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • SHRM/PHR Certification preferred
