What’s it all about?

Responsible for leading the co-ordination of regulatory compliance deliverables across Visa in Europe. Provides 2nd line challenge to the business in respect of its assessment and management of risks identified under the relevant regulatory standards. Works as a trusted business partner, ensuring remediation where required. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Supports regulatory compliance engagement with Regulators including The Bank of England.

  • Drives a regulatory compliance culture across Europe which may have significant implications for Visa Europe’s business performance.

  • Responsible for supporting the design, development and the implementation of processes to support Visa’s compliance with all prudential regulations including:

    • Annual Internal Risk Review of Financial Market Infrastructure principles (Bank of England);

    • Other Bank of England regulator deliverables

    • Annual Access report (PSR)

    • Responses to request for information;

  • Responsible for supporting the design, development and deployment of other regulatory compliance policies and processes throughout Visa Europe including in relation to the European Central Bank.

  • Partners with more senior colleagues to identify the options for achieving business strategy within accepted risk framework and appetites.

  • Deputise for the Head of Regulatory Compliance.

  • Maintain knowledge of current and prospective regulatory framework affecting Visa in Europe

  • Apply subject matter expertise to advise senior management of emerging regulatory risks, challenging where necessary and propose mitigation strategies

  • Ensure timely and appropriate responses are provided to all external regulatory requests

  • Contributes to defining the strategy, oversight and delivery of business education on regulatory policy requirements

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships between the Regulatory Compliance team and other parts of Visa

  • Responsible for the proactive identification and evaluation of emerging regulatory trends, laws and principles of practice in markets of operation, including monitoring and enforcement, and proactively coordinating other relevant stakeholders to ensure adherence with emerging regulatory obligations.

  • Responsible for supporting engagement on relevant internal audits and regulatory requests, ensuring satisfactory resolution of any audit findings and recommendations.

  • Any other activities as requested to support business or regulatory objectives

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Detailed knowledge of the payment services industry, preferably a sound understanding of Financial Market Infrastructure oversight of Visa in Europe.

  • Mid-level experience within a BoE/FCA/PRA (or equivalent) regulatory environment.

  • Degree educated or other appropriate risk management, compliance qualification. 

  • Experience of leading regulatory compliance deliverables including compliance self-assessments and/or relevant project management qualification.

  • Ability to work independently and with proven senior stakeholder management expertise.

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of existing and emerging regulatory requirements

  • Strong communication and influencing skills

  • Ability to act proactively and multitask with a good eye for detail

  • Sound judgement and problem solving capabilities
