Job Description

Job Purpose:

Visa’s Core and Digital strategy brings exciting new product lines and changes to existing activities in the Payment Technology Services team. The global integration of Visa has added a global focus to the team as we serve multiple regions and product owners. To support these new challenges an opportunity has become available for a Payment Technology Manager, reporting into the Payment Technology Services Lead.

The purpose of the role is to develop, maintain and enhance Visa’s infrastructure for chip based technology and new products (e.g. Contactless and Mobile). Requiring knowledge of specific chip based technology such as EMV, VIS, Contactless (NFC), Mobile, with specific emphasis on the card-based aspects of EMV, and Visa chip based technology. The role will provide subject expert advice and consultancy to banks, vendors, internal and external customers for activities such as infrastructure quality, compliance, and implementation of existing and new technology. The role has a commercial focus driving Visa’s services, client self-service and training. The candidate should have unique industry expert technical experience of chip-based technology, chip tools and a knowledge of payment industry products and systems.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Subject Matter Expert: Be a recognised authority for Visa payment technology, specifications, rules and service, in particular EMV based technology. Remaining current with industry standards and ensuring that advice or guidance is appropriate and current. Able to communicate at appropriate degrees of complexity according to audience knowledge and seniority. Develop and maintain industry awareness of and identify opportunities to apply current developments in the area of expertise.

  • Own specific countries within the Europe region, providing customised and targeted services and support through workshops, training and presentations. Monitoring infrastructure quality and take appropriate corrective and compliance as needed. Advise clients and customers on technical aspect of current and new payment technology to ensure successful launch of client programmes.

  • Innovation: Support and drive new solutions in the area of EMV and chip payment technology, in close cooperation with Visa product, innovation and marketing teams supporting the adoption by Visa banks.

  • Customer Consultancy: Provide in-depth specialised expertise on business, functional and technical requirements, operating regulation and best practice on new technology solutions to banks, vendors, and internal teams. Deliver against Visa’s strategy and targets of stronger commercial focus, client self-service, and higher efficiency.

  • Quality Standards & Assurance: Take responsibility for defining and implementing quality standards and policies. Own and develop testing tools and processes, which ensure the quality of Visa’s payment infrastructure.

  • Problem, Risk & Fraud Management: Research, analyse and resolve fraud, risks, problems or issues in the field of expertise. Proactively reacting to issues identified that threaten either the payment system security, quality of service or interoperability of payments.

     

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will ideally be degree educated in a Business/technical degree or have equivalent significant payment industry experience, at least 10 years

  • Thorough knowledge to the level of industry expert and awareness of regulatory influences. Knowledge should include but not limited to EMV and VIS specifications, VCPS, Mobile payment specifications, Transit payment applications, CPA/SECCOS, DPA, Multi-application cards, Key Management, RSA, DES, ECC.

  • Detailed knowledge of Visa products, systems, services and organisation

  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of new payment technologies especially chip based technology and awareness of Visa innovation and digital products.

  • Excellent proven problem solving, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

  • Extensive experience of the payment card industry gained through vendor, retailer, bank or a card scheme especially with a focus on EMV chip cards, chip devices and test tools 

  • Extensive experience of payment technology implementations, especially card based projects

  • Ability to travel and work autonomously, but also as part of a small team of specialists, and within a large international organisation

  • Ability to assess situations and solve problems through sound reasoning and structured thinking.

  • Ability to influence stakeholders

  • Excellent team work and interpersonal skills for working cross-functionally
