Job Description

At Visa, risk management is everybody’s job, every day. To empower Visa’s staff to be good risk managers, we are growing our Operational Risk Management team to collaborate with business owners and ensure that have the right processes and skills in place to identify and manage day-to-day operational risks. We are looking for a dynamic and energetic candidate to join our Operational Risk Management Team to join us on this journey.

Job Description

Under the direction of and reporting to the Sr. Director – Operational Risk Management, incumbent will execute all aspects of the Operational Risk Management Monitoring and Validation program. Participate in the planning and scoping activities, interface with business units in gaining an understanding of their operational risk environment, facilitating walkthroughs designed to gain an understanding of the business process, refine process flows, and update risk and control registers. Execute all phases of the control environment validation activities. Perform analysis and provide an assessment on the effectiveness and design of the control environment and first line of defense program. Interface with the business throughout and consult on needed remediation. Establish and maintain an open dialogue with the business, other assurance teams, and management to stay abreast of changing and emerging risks. Prepare and present results of control assurance activities and assessment of residual risk.

Responsibilities

Promote positive and productive business relationships with business owners and appropriate levels of management to ensure that Operational Risk Management is aware of changes in business activities and objectives, and that the business maintains a very strong control environment.

Coordinate with other assurance teams, apprising them of planned activities, ensuring integrated assurance; minimize duplication of effort while ensuring essential controls are examined.

Execute control validation plans utilizing the most appropriate and effective assurance technique; evaluate the effectiveness of the design of controls, operating effectiveness of the controls, and the maturity and effectiveness of the first line of defense controls program.

Perform analysis, prepare and present reports to business and control owner on the effectiveness of their control environment along with recommendations to improve the design or operating effectiveness, or efficiency of a control or process.

Continuously consult with business units to assist them in improving their control environment.

Evaluate the adequacy of management’s response and the corrective action taken on significant concerns identified.

Monitor remediation actions, track and report completion, perform validation as appropriate, inform relevant parties, and update control registers.

Possess outstanding written and oral communications skills and demonstrate these skills prior to, during, and at the completion of the validation process. Ideas should be expressed clearly and concisely.

Promote new ideas and new ways of managing risk and corresponding control framework.

Maintain a strong knowledge of overall business issues and objectives, understand company structure and functional responsibility.

Develop and maintain a proficiency in company technical, product, and strategic advances.

Stay abreast of emerging risks, industry updates, and improved practitioner guidance; update job knowledge by participating in educational and networking opportunities. Liaise with business partners in sharing insight. 

Qualifications

 

  • 3-5 years’ experience in Compliance, Audit, or Risk, preferably with experience in the payment services or financial industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with Operational Risk, a plus.
  • Expertise in Finance, Regulatory, or Information Technology preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field.
  • Excellent written and oral communications and presentation skills for senior leader-level audience.
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluating controls associated with business processes in a complex operational, regulatory, and global environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, team player, approachable, professionally mature, relationship management and consulting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to synthesize information and make clear, concise recommendations.
  • Heightened analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and organized, able to handle multiple priorities while focusing on results.
  • Exercise sound judgment, diplomatic, transparent, and trusted.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • CIA, CISA, CRMA, CORS, or other relevant professional certification highly desired.
