Position Description

This role is responsible for contributing to the overall integrity and availability of all batch applications running on the IBM z/OS390 platform.

This is an individual contributor role responsible for solving complex problems that have a large impact on the business.

 

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Candidate will be responsible for maintenance and support of all batch applications running on the IBM z/OS390 platform.

  • Perform 2nd and 3rd level Incident & Problem determination and resolution for any issues detected in the Production and/or Development environments through a 24x7 rotating support model.

  • Work with application software development on the implementation and support of software maintenance releases.

  • Support new client implementations on the IBM z/OS390 platform.

  • Perform proactive activities designed to promote a trouble free production environment.

  • Provide technical assistance to Client Services, Network Operations, and Implementations.

  • Assist in the testing and certification of new DPS software and clients.

  • Work with network operations and technical support to identify and implement application fixes and enhancements to increase efficiency and ease of use.

  • Serve as a mentor to other team members and an escalation point for problem resolution.

Qualifications

Education/Experience 

  1. College degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent work experience in data processing.

  2. 7-10  years support and/or development role experience on the IBM z/OS390 batch application – (Required)

  3. 7-10  years support and/or development role extensive MVS experience in COBOL/JCL, REXX, Endevor, FileAid – (Required)

    o Mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback (Required) 
    o Knowledge of the Agile development and full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery (Required) 

    o Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue 
    o Experience in support of IBM Mainframe applications - MVS, COBOL, CICS, VSAM, JCL, PROCs (Required) 
    o Connex Advantage platform Offline system settlement, reconciliation, and reporting knowledge (Required)
