Job Scope
This role is an individual contributor with a primary focus on execution. This position is at an emerging professional level and solves a range of problems and analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures. This position receives a moderate level of guidance and supervision. The scope of work is project focused including project origination and coordination of economic and related topics (70%) along with administrative support to the department head (30%).
Responsibilities
Support senior members of the Visa Business and Economic Insights department on projects relating to the economy and the payments industry
Create and develop methods to forecast, track and communicate performance and industry drivers (economic data such as retail sales, and unemployment) using existing sources of data
Identify additional sources of data that would aid in analyses
Prepare and maintain department economic presentations
Responsible for the preparation of executive insights
Administer key department functions (approximately 30% of time)
Review/edit/modify department documents to ensure consistency
Create advanced PowerPoint presentations and other publications to support the group
Manage department global budget, purchase orders, invoices, and vendor relationships
Book/manage staff training events (in person, Webex)
Produce/validate/distribute executive briefing materials
Provide executive support to Chief Economist including managing calendar, meetings, travel and expenses
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in economics required for solid foundation of economic fundamentals and relationships; equivalent professional experience (3-5 years) will be considered
Two years economic business experience preferred.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
Ability to understand and translate macroeconomic events and trends to the payments industry
Use of PC-based econometric models (eViews) a plus including the ability to update existing models
Ability to identify and build the required fact base to support project work, including leveraging a wide variety of internal and external sources
Eagerness to work in joint teams with personnel of all levels to accomplish project objectives
A professional demeanor, effective phone manner and strong oral and written communications skills are critical
Customer service focused and ability to work collaboratively with others
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work with a strong attention to detail
Must be proactive & solution oriented, looking for ways to add value and assist the team
Ability to coordinate internal and external resources
Highly proficient on all Microsoft products including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Advanced level PowerPoint required
