Job Description

The Finance Tax Consulting group works closely with a team of other staff and managers on a variety of US federal, state and international tax issues, including the preparation of the Company’s federal and state income tax returns, estimates, and extensions.  The Tax Consulting group is also responsible for the coordination with outside service providers on the variety of issues identified as ones requiring the outside consulting involvement.  These issues include research of the new tax legislation, specific provisions affecting Visa’s tax positions, matters relating to filing of all of the Company’s indirect tax returns (sales and property tax), and the quarterly forecast of all federal and state tax payments. Tax Consulting also works closely with the Tax Controversy group on responding to information requests from federal and state tax auditors.

Role Description:

The Finance Tax Consulting  group has exciting opportunities for you here in our Foster City headquarters. Some of the things you might work on as an intern are:

• Research of various federal, state and international tax issues and formulating the research conclusions
• Prepare of research memorandums using RIA Checkpoint and other internet-based tax research tools
• Participate in quantitative projects related to the preparation of pro-forma federal returns, state and local income/franchise tax returns
• Participate in the preparation of quantitative models to assess the tax effects of various business changes/proposals
• Calculation of apportionment factors for multiple states and entities
• Calculation of federal and state estimated tax payments and extensions
• Assist with quarterly federal and state tax forecasts and cash flow analyses
• Assist with providing supporting data for the quarterly and annual tax provisions
• Coordinate with outside service provider on various issues
• Respond to notices from tax authorities
• Assist with income tax audits as required
• Assist with other tax projects as required

Qualifications

• Students graduating in 2019 or later
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Master’s in Taxation
• CPA license (preferred)
• Proficiency in Excel, Oracle and RIA Checkpoint
• Experience with general ledger and tax compliance
• Strong written and oral communication, including large-group presentations
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Highly driven and resourceful
• Strategic thinker with exceptional analytical skills
