Job Description

The Communications Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean is responsible for driving corporate reputation initiatives, managing corporate contributions and tracking the outcomes and impact of the communications team. He/she is curious and enjoys taking on new projects and collaborating with the rest of the team, as well as the global corporate communications team and the business units. A strong storyteller, he/she finds appealing ways to get our message across to both internal and external audiences. Through a consistent and thorough analysis of our KPIs, he/she is able to reflect the outcomes and most importantly, the impact of our job to the entire organization. Most importantly, he/she has a passion for communication, drives change and is excited to be part of the company that is leading the transformation of the payments industry.

Corporate Reputation
  • Develop internal and external communications plans for various market research studies around electronic payments in the region. Act as the liaison between the global communications teams that lead the market research and the LAC business units as needed.
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend speaking opportunities for Visa executives. Develop and adapt briefing materials for spokespeople. Leverage participation in third-party events with internal audiences.
  • Manage corporate contribution programs for Central America, Caribbean, Andean Region and Southern Cone, following CSR guidelines. Evaluate requests from the business, manage internal approval processes and relationship with involved NGOs.
  • Identify key pan-regional media outlets. Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with these outlets, by pitching Visa’s stories and nurturing the relationship with key journalists.
  • Support ongoing initiatives to develop internal spokespeople (ie, media training, blogging courses, social media training). Propose, develop and deploy new initiatives to further develop the communications capabilities of Visa’s spokespeople.
Multimedia content development
  • Develop and adapt communications materials for internal and external audiences, with digital appeal, based on research studies, issues briefs, statistics, fact sheets, among others.
  • Manage and review translations.
  • Work closely with digital marketing team to leverage materials in diverse internal and external platforms.

KPI Measurement

  • Establish, develop and update metrics for the communications function.
  • Work closely with global metrics team to ensure alignment. Ensure that the LAC dashboards are included in global communications dashboards.
  • Propose, develop and update regular reports or dashboards to showcase results to LAC leadership team.

Qualifications

  • High level of knowledge in all communications functions, in particular reputation management, corporate social responsibility, content development and communications metrics.
  • Experience in messaging and content development.
  • General knowledge of financial services industry or related global industry.
  • Bachelors Degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field.
  • Experience in social media & multimedia content creation.
  • Minimum five years communications experience.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Latin American cultures and languages.

  • Excellent writing / storytelling skills in English and Spanish.

  • Flexibility to perform diverse tasks outside scope of work when projects or business goals require it.
