Job Description

Reporting to the VP Marketing, the Director, Marketing Strategy and Planning will provide leadership, strategic direction, and vision for the Canada Marketing team focusing on maximizing the Canadian business and ensuring effective & efficient marketing efforts.  This leader drives the development of Canada marketing  strategy and works with the North America Strategy and Planning team on key aspects of planning and measurement for marketing-related efforts. This role also works on key strategic projects with cross functional teams in Canada to provide strategic marketing input. This individual must be able to thrive in a fast-moving, highly matrixed environment. He/she is a results-oriented, highly-motivated, hands-on leader able to set a vision to drive change internally and be able to develop and implement complex projects.  He/She must be flexible and have a “can do”, positive attitude and be passionate about selling a vision to senior executives. 

Responsibilities

  • Drive, develop and communicate strategic insights, tools and standardized frameworks in support of Canada marketing strategy and planning

  • Lead integration and alignment of Canada marketing plans to Canada country plans and North America corporate priorities and objectives.

  • Lead annual planning and forecast updates, coordinating with North America Marketing Strategy and Planning.

  • Develop recommendations related to Canadian marketing investment allocation

  • Lead projects or major project workstreams related to Visa´s Canadian and/or North American marketing strategy, business development, or corporate initiatives

  • Working with the Global marketing Centre of Excellence, oversee agency relationships to optimize agency capabilities to align with Visa objectives

  • Drive sharing of best practices across the marketing team, functional partners and agencies

  • Work with limited direction, usually within a complex and often ambiguous environment, to drive rigorous, fact-based recommendations to senior management, other executive, functional, or regional management while supporting syndication with stakeholders across the organization

Qualifications

  • 7 - 10 years progressively responsible business  experience, with majority in marketing

  • Experience in management consulting a plus

  • Bachelors degree required / MBA preferred

  • A proven track record as a strong strategic thinker with a results orientation who approaches any challenge with thoughtfulness, drive, data usage, and appropriate urgency

  • A collaborative and “hands-on” team leader and player who builds strong relationships internally and externally, and works well under pressure, thriving under tight deadlines

  • Project management skills including budget management, KPI tracking, and attention to detail

  • Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible, with excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and writing capabilities

  •  Advanced level of Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint required
