In this role, you will be responsible for from basic data analytics, to implementing and delivering advanced machine learning models, visualization solutions and high impact business projects. You will get chance to leverage your business acumen, programming skills, technical knowledge of big data, analytics, modeling and machine learning techniques. The candidate will be a Hand-On Data scientist, Engineer and Innovation agent experienced in Statistical Data Analysis, Predictive Analytics, Machine Learning and Data Visualization with domain experience in the Business Intelligence space. The Data Engineering & Analytics Reporting team is a world class team working in a fast-paced environment that has the entrepreneurial feel of a start-up.  The role is a self-organized Staff Engineer with solid Java, Python, NO SQL DB technologies and Time series metrics ingest, manipulation, Alert development experience. In this position, you are first and foremost a passionate and talented developer that can work in a dynamic environment as a member of Data Engineering team. Your strong technical leadership, problem-solving abilities, coding, testing and debugging skills is just a start. You must be dedicated to filling product backlog and delivering production-ready code. You must be willing to go beyond the routine and prepared to do a little bit of everything. An ideal candidate would be someone who has full life cycle experience of Framing problem, data collection, processing and Analysis and a great communicator both verbal and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Work with product owners and clients to fully understand business requirements and desired business outcomes
• Assist in scoping and designing analytic projects and solutions, bringing in and testing innovative ideas for out-of-box solutions  
  
• Execute analytic projects ranging from small to large either individually or as part of a project team
• Extract actionable business insights from the data and build deliverables that clearly communicate the findings and recommendations
• Provide analytical assistance and solution to both interior and exterior clients, ensure smooth performance of risk model in production
• Perform other tasks on R&D, data governance, system infrastructure, analytics tool evaluation, and other cross team functions, on an as-needed basis
• Find opportunities to create and automate repeatable analyses or build self-service tools for business users

Technical skills:

• High level of competence in Python, Spark/Scala, and Unix/Linux scripts
• Extensive experience with SQL for extracting and aggregating data
• Real world experience using Hadoop and the related query engines (Hive / Impala)
• Experience with data mining and statistical modeling such as regression, clustering techniques, decision trees, etc. is required
  
• Proficiency with SAS as a statistical package is highly desirable
  
• Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools like Tableau or other programs

Education and Experience:

• BS / MS degree in Computer Data Science/Computer Engineering or a math Major with Data Science degree with a minimum of combined 8 years of experience in Python and/or Java and various database technologies.

• Minimum of 6 years of experience applying statistical solutions to business problems in relevant fields such as analytics, business consulting, or other data-driven functions

• Analytics experience in credit cards, financial services, or merchant analytics (such as retail, hotels or airlines) is helpful but not required
