Job Description

The Helper C Trainee is any newly hired employee who is to be trained for a position as a Helper C. The training period may not exceed 6 consecutive months. The Helper C - Trainee also helps to safeguard the interests of the owners by maintaining the physical condition of property and equipment according to company guidelines and standards, and protecting the property and equipment from damage, loss, and deterioration. 

·         Keeps the premises clean and in order and employing reasonable diligence in the removal of snow to afford ready access into and past the buildings and garages belonging to the premises.

·         Puts all ashes and other refuse into the receptacles provided by the premises for waste removal.

·         Sweeps and dusts vacant apartments or flats, common areas (including party rooms, swimming pools, locker rooms, laundry rooms, et al.), keeping the plumbing fixtures, refrigerators and gas or electric ranges clean, and washing windows as often as may be necessary to keep the premises in presentable condition for rental, provided that employees shall not be required or permitted to wash windows on the outside above the ground level.

·         Assists Helper A, Helper A Trainee, Helper C, and Groundskeeper in the maintenance/cleanliness of the common areas.

·         As predetermined by the owner-approved budget for the property, the service staff member(s) is / are required to use their own labor to perform carpet cleaning, apartment cleaning, and interior painting without the use of outside contractors. 

·         Scheduling / contracting vendors to perform apartment turnover services that exceed the budgeted amount in the given month, will require the written consent of the Property Manager.

Qualifications

·         Must have the availability to work a flexible schedule any day of the week, including being “on-call”

·         Ability to communicate effectively

·         Requires being detailed oriented

·         Previous housekeeping experience in the hotel, commercial office and/or apartment industry required

·         Some office skills helpful

·         Cleaning equipment application and operation

·         Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety precautions

·         This position requires continuing education and training as defined by Article XX11 of the SEIU Local 1 collective bargaining agreement.
