Job Description
The Senior Engineer is responsible for managing and overseeing marine, mechanical, electrical, and facility engineering operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of all equipment, vessels, utilities. The role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities.
1. Marine & Mechanical Engineering
- Oversee the maintenance and operational readiness of marine vessels, boat engines, generators, pumps, and related mechanical systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and engine-related faults and coordinate timely repairs.
- Develop and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for marine and mechanical equipment.
- Ensure vessels and engineering equipment are maintained to appropriate safety and operational standards.
- Coordinate servicing, repairs, inspections, and replacement of mechanical components.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify potential failures before they affect operations.
- Provide technical guidance to mechanics, technicians, and other engineering personnel.
2. Facilities & Building Services
- Supervise the maintenance of plant rooms, utilities, and other engineering infrastructure.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities across the property.
- Respond promptly to engineering breakdowns and operational emergencies.
- Ensure guest-facing engineering issues are resolved efficiently with minimal disruption to hotel operations.
3. Team Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, supervise, and support engineers, mechanics, technicians.
- Allocate daily work according to operational priorities and available resources.
- Monitor staff performance, productivity, attendance, and work quality.
- Provide technical coaching and on-the-job training to engineering personnel.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, discipline, and a strong safety culture.
- Assist management with workforce planning and identification of additional engineering resources when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Relevant professional certification or technical qualification will be an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering, preferably with supervisory or senior-level responsibility.
- Practical experience with marine engines, boats/vessels, mechanical equipment, generators and pumps is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in a hotel, resort, marine operation, facilities management, or similar hospitality environment is preferred.
- Proven experience supervising technicians, mechanics, engineers, or maintenance teams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
