Job Description
The Head Sommelier at Villa Park will lead our wine program, curating a wine list that enhances the resort's dining experiences. This role involves sourcing wines, interacting with suppliers, and maintaining an exceptional selection. The Head Sommelier will offer personalized wine recommendations, collaborate with the Director of F&B, and implement strategies to align with guest preferences and resort standards.
- Wine Program Management: Curate and manage a wine list that complements the resort’s dining and guest preferences. Update regularly based on feedback and trends.
- Supplier Relations: Source and negotiate with wine suppliers to ensure quality and variety. Manage relationships for optimal pricing and availability.
- Guest Experience: Provide personalized wine recommendations and pairings, conduct tastings, and offer educational sessions for guests and staff.
- Staff Training: Develop and deliver training programs on wine knowledge, service, and handling. Ensure staff proficiency in recommending wines.
- Inventory Management: Oversee wine inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storage. Maintain records and manage costs for efficiency.
- Event Coordination: Work with the events team to handle wine-related aspects of special events, ensuring a tailored and memorable experience.
- Quality Control: Ensure quality in wine service, including storage and serving conditions. Address issues related to wine service promptly.
- Collaboration: Partner with the Director of F&B to recommend wine selections and strategies that enhance guest experiences and align with resort goals.
Qualifications
Your experience and skills include:
- Proven experience as a Sommelier with extensive knowledge of wine regions, varieties, and pairings.
- WSET Level 3, Court of Master Sommeliers certification, or a similar qualification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and a passion for exceptional guest experiences.
- Strong leadership, team training, and management skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management and cost control.
- Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Previous experience in luxury or high-end hospitality preferred.
