Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and responsible Fishing Boat Captain to operate and manage our fishing vessel, ensuring safe navigation. The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge of local fishing grounds, excellent seamanship skills, and the ability to lead a small crew efficiently while maintaining the highest safety and service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct pole and reef fishing trips including route planning, weather monitoring, and coordination with relevant departments.
- Supervise and guide crew members to ensure smooth and efficient operations on board.
- Monitor and maintain fishing equipment, gear, and boat cleanliness at all times.
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed and safety equipment is in proper working condition.
- Keep accurate logs of trips, catches, maintenance, and fuel usage.
- Safely operate and navigate the fishing vessel in accordance with maritime laws and company policies.
- Report any technical or operational issues to management promptly.
Qualifications
- Valid Captain’s License or equivalent maritime certification approved by local authorities.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience operating fishing boats, preferably in pole and reef fishing.
- Strong knowledge of local fishing grounds, marine life, and fishing techniques.
- Excellent navigational and boat-handling skills.
- Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be physically fit and able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
