Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Chief Steward to oversee and manage our stewarding operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, ensuring proper hygiene standards, managing inventory, and leading a team of stewards to ensure a smooth and efficient operation. This role is crucial in supporting our culinary and food service teams by ensuring all equipment and areas are sanitized and ready for use.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, train, and supervise the stewarding team to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen areas.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment, utensils, and areas are properly cleaned, sanitized, and organized according to health and safety regulations.
  • Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of cleaning supplies, kitchen equipment, and other necessary materials.
  • Implement and oversee waste management procedures to minimize waste and ensure proper disposal practices.
  • Work closely with the culinary and food service teams to meet their needs and support their operations.
  • Manage the stewarding department’s budget, including cost control and ordering supplies within budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensure that all staff members adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in hospitality management is a plus
  • Proven experience as a Chief Steward or in a similar supervisory role in hospitality or food service.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of sanitation regulations and health and safety standards.
  • Ability to manage inventory and control costs effectively.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to excellence.
