Job Description

  • Formulates and recommends Human Resources policies and objectives for the company with regard to employee relations within resort environment.
  • Establishes and leads the standard recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit and hire a better workforce for the resort.
  • Partners with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs and laws within department level.
  • Determines and recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation within resort environment
  • Conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
  • Monitors and advises managers and supervisors in the progressive discipline system of the company. Monitors the implementation of a performance improvement process with non-performing employees and assist the department heads to complete performance appraisal when necessary.
  • Reviews, guides, and approves management recommendations for employment termination.
  • Leads the implementation of company safety and health programs. Monitors the tracking of government authorities required data.
  • Reviews employee appeals through the company complaint procedure.
  • Establishes the company wage and salary structure, pay policies, and oversees the variable pay systems within the company including bonuses and raises monthly basis and when necessary.
  • Leads competitive market research to establish pay practices and pay bands  and provide suggestions to Male’ office Human Resources Department in order to help to recruit and retain superior staff .
  • Monitors all pay practices and systems for effectiveness and cost containment.
  • With the assistance of the department heads, obtains cost effective, employee serving benefits; monitors national level of benefits environment for options and cost savings.
  • Recommends changes in benefits offered, especially new benefits aimed at employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Leads company compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity, the Family and Medical Leave, and all related leave policies and the Occupational Safety and Health, and so forth.
  • Manages employee communication and feedback through such avenues as department meetings, suggestion programs, employee satisfaction surveys, employee focus groups, one-on-one meetings. Identifies and monitors the organizational culture so that it supports the attainment of the company’s goals and promotes employee satisfaction aiming to minimize turnover rate
  • Lead and assist with the Training Manager to formulate and implement better training system within resort (orientation, refresh etc.) with the assistance and guidance from the HRD/HRM and the GM.
  • Provide input for probation and formal performance appraisal discussions in line with company guidelines when given.
  • Ensure new staff attend Orientation organized by the Training /HR Department within first month of recruitment, coach, counsel and discipline staff in breach of hotel policies and departmental procedures, providing constructive feedback to enhance performance.
  • Demonstrate Awareness of Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures and ensure all procedures are conducted safely.
  • Be aware of duty of care and adhere to Employment Law, occupational health and safety provisions in the employment law, policies and procedures of the company and the worksite.
  • Be familiar with property safety, first aid and fire and emergency procedures and operate equipment safely and sensibly.
  • Initiate action to correct a hazardous situation and notify superiors of potential dangers.
  • Handle grievances of the staff  as per the companies grievance procedure and inform the General Manager of the concerns.
  • Prepare payroll and making sure all the payroll related matters are in accordance with company policies.
  • Prepare job descriptions for the staff and revise them on a need basis.
  • Works with HRM/HRD in the preparation and management of the department's budget and is aware of financial targets.
  • Recycles where-ever possible and enforces cost saving measures to staff.
  • Takes initiative in cost reduction strategies for the company.
  • Other HR related matters as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HR or other relevant roles
  • Previous Employee Relations experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and HR Data Management Systems
  • Ability to build relationships and network with potential applicants.
