Job Description

  • A member of the senior leadership team, participates and contributes in the preparation and development of the Resort’s strategic and Human Resources Plan.
  • Be an exemplary role model in inspiriting Team Members through strong demonstration of the Resort Culture and Service Philosophy.   
  • Provides inspirational leadership, clear vision and direction to Team Members to ensure delivery of the Resort brand, values and vision, to create an amazing experience for our guests and Team Members.
  • Oversees and manages all aspects of the Human Resources department and ensure that all Team Members adhere strictly to all policies and standard operating procedures set by the resort and Corporate office.
  • Responsible for the establishment and execution of sustainable Human Resources initiatives, including talent management, recruitment process, compensation plans, leadership pipeline succession and workforce planning in alignment with the business direction.
  • Serves as key change manager for initiatives that have high Team Member impact by remaining current and knowledgeable with the ever-changing industry trends.
  • Attends owners’ meetings as a member of the property executive committee and provides meaning or context to the Human Resources results (e.g., retention statistics, critical open positions, Team Member satisfaction, and training initiatives and results); and demonstrates an understanding of owner priorities.
  • Analyses open positions to balance the development of existing talent and business needs. Makes staffing decisions to manage the talent team and pipeline at the property.
  • Serves as coach and expert facilitator of the selection and interviewing process.
  • Surfaces opportunities in work processes and staffing optimization.
  • Participates in internal equity analysis; reviews internal equity reports and surface issues needing resolution.
  • Creates recognition and incentive programs directed towards property priorities by resort GM if needed.
  • Ensures completion of the duties and responsibilities of the properties’ Human Resources Team Members, as outlined in applicable job description(s).
  • Ensure all workplace health and safety standards are observed and provide support to Team Members.
  • Monitor resort’s performance through internal and external audits and financial reports and suggest initiatives to counter challenges and enhance business performance.
  • Attend all Head of Department and Guidance Team meetings for formulation of strategic business plan in efforts to improve resort performance. 
  • Serves as resource to property Human Resources Team Members on Team Member relations questions and issues.
  • Maintains strong working relationships with other departments to ensure effective communications for operational issues, serves as a role model for inter-departmental collaboration and support.
  • Recognises the importance of LQA and Forbes standards, coordinate with Training Manager in implementing initiatives to ensure strict compliance as to deliver stellar audit performance.
  • Monitor and conduct performance review for all department Team Members, provide timely feedback for improvements and praises as due.
  • Provide effective performance feedback through Team Member recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action.
  • Take ownership of Team Members’ growth and be involved in career progression and succession planning of departmental Team Members.
  • Coach and train departmental Team Members in all Team Member related human resource information to appropriately respond to property Team Members.
  • Handle grievances and resolve Team Members’ disciplinary matters. Keep a record under the appropriate system and ensure that the matters are resolved in a timely manner and with ultimate professionalism.
  • Maintain an image of professional senior management to all guests, Team Members and the resort.
  • Perform all duties with discretion, professionalism and a pleasant demeanour.
  • Report any issue or damages and breakdowns within working areas and the resort to ensure a defect-free facilities and service amenities provided.
  • Perform other duties or responsibilities that are reasonable as assigned by the immediate supervisor or manager.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as HR Director
  • Full understanding of the way an organization operates to meet its objectives
  • Excellent knowledge of employment legislation and regulations
  • Thorough knowledge of human resource management principles and best practices
  • A business acumen partnered with attention to the human element
  • Knowledge of data analysis and reporting
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Diligent and firm with high ethical standards
  • BSc/BA in human resources, business administration or relevant field; MSc/MA in human resources will be a plus
