Job Description

We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate sommelier to join Team Nautica and provide exceptional wine expertise and service to our guests. As a sommelier, you will be responsible for organizing and maintaining an outstanding wine collection, offering expert advice on wine pairing, and ensuring an exceptional dining experience for our patrons.

  • Identify and source new wines and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure a diverse and compelling wine selection.
  • Manage wine inventory by ensuring proper storage conditions and tracking stock levels to avoid shortages or overstocking.
  • Assess guest preferences and make personalized wine recommendations based on their taste profiles, menu choices, and budget constraints.
  • Utilizing extensive knowledge of different wine varietals, regions, and vintages to guide guests towards optimal wine and food pairings.
  • Provide detailed information on wine characteristics, tasting notes, and production methods to educate and engage guests.
  • Assist guests in selecting wines from the menu or cellar, ensuring their preferences are met while considering budgetary constraints.
  • Conduct staff training sessions on wine service techniques, wine regions, and wine pairing strategies to enhance the overall dining experience for guests.
     

Qualifications

  • Certification as a sommelier or equivalent (minimum WSET Level 2).
  • Proven experience of at least 2–3 years as a sommelier, preferably in a luxury resort or hotel.
  • Extensive knowledge of wines, wine regions, and vintages, with a strong understanding of wine production methods and viticulture.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with guests and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to navigate a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with the culinary team to enhance the overall dining experience.
