Job Description

The Chief Steward will be responsible for administration and direction of the stewarding department including personnel, budget and forecast and maintenance of equipment. Develops and recommends policies, procedures and training practices for the efficient operation of the department under the guidance of Executive Chef.

Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance and direction to the team, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Trains team members in safety procedures, equipment handling, chemical usage, and other operational needs.
  • Provides feedback to individuals based on observation of service behaviors.
  • Ensures disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures.
  • Manage the flow of activity in the kitchen during production and during events.
  • Responsible for maintenance of food area including inventory and purchasing.
  • Ensures resort policies are administered fairly and consistently.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar resort/hotel operational role.
  • An intuitive sense of product and service quality, a passion for excellence and an understanding of the sophisticated needs of the customer.
  • Ability to handle a busy operation.
  • Knowledge of Advanced MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
