POSITION SUMMARY:   Troubleshoot, repair and replace electrical/electronic components (motors, frequency drives, photo eyes, safety devices, etc.), troubleshoot PLC programs and provide general maintenance support to the production cells. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

  1. Troubleshoot and repair program issues on controls 
  2. Troubleshoot repair electrical circuits and componentry
  3. Maintain computer files and generate reports.
  4. Understand and follow electrical safety codes.
  5. Use standard electrical measuring equipment such as multi-meters.
  6. Troubleshoot and repair or replace motors and other electrical components. 
  7. Partner with shift mechanic and operators to maintain equipment and operate in a safe manner.
  8. Comply with a safety regulations including (but not limited to) Lock Out Tag Out and Electrical Safety.
  9. Participate in team events.
  10. Direct contact with equipment vendors and manufacturers.
  11. Read and understand tech manuals and related materials

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

Education: Two year degree in industrial electricity/plc programming or equivalent experience.  

Technical Skills: Programming, wiring, conduit installation, circuit troubleshooting, CAD experience a plus, bus experience a major plus. Skilled in use of laptop computers, able to use RS Logix5, RS Logix 500, RX Linx and other systems for PLCs.  Skilled in building and/or rebuilding control panels, robotic experience and working with complex and advanced automation systems a plus.

Non Technical Skills: Behavior:  Exhibit team player qualities of cooperation and coordination Attendance:  Present for work when scheduled is a mandatory function.  Saturday attendance will be necessary from time to time. Safety:   Comply with all requirements of the safety program, including adherence to all safety rules.  Reporting of safety issues is mandatory.

Experience:   Minimum 5 years electrician experience and 3-5 years experience as a controls technician in an industrial/manufacturing environment; familiar with A/B, Yasgawa and other drives, trouble shooting and writing plc programs.

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids: Computer, drives, tech manuals, plc’s, phones, multi meters, measuring devices and other material necessary to perform job functions.

Physical Requirements: Critical to the Job:  Standing and walking-90% of time on job; sitting-10% of time on job.  Teamwork/working with others – 40%, repairs, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, installing new equipment/devices – 80% of time on job, adjustments, reports – 20%. Ability to climb ladders, occasionally lift components up to 50 lbs.

Environmental Conditions: Exposed to normal production floor and shop conditions.
