 POSITION SUMMARY:   Perform mechanical and automated program set up, routine preventive and corrective maintenance, adjustments, troubleshooting and repairs on palletizer, conveyor, and stretch wrapper equipment.

  2. Attendance: Exceptional attendance is a mandatory requirement. Standard 8-hour shift which may include extra hours daily; Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays.
  3. Safety: Comply with all requirements of the safety program, including: hazard recognition, housekeeping, accident and near miss reporting, proper use of all safety equipment and procedures, adherence to all Safety Rules and your reporting of safety issues is mandatory.
  4. Set up and adjust equipment for various product pallet patterns. Including HMI/automated palletizer and conveyor system set up and operation.
  5. Identify alarm conditions and be able to effect timely analysis and corrective measures, including root cause analysis.
  6. Diagnose machine malfunctions and operating difficulties; make the necessary repairs and adjustments.
  7. Identify and research required repair parts and components.
  8. Knowledge of a CMMS, to include writing of work orders and ordering parts.
  9. Proactive in analyzing equipment performance, visually and audibly identifying premature component wear and inefficient equipment run state.
  10. Perform routine daily maintenance such as lubrication, changing belts/chains, and perform preventive maintenance.
  11. Process and store hazardous, flammable material in accordance with established local, state and federal guidelines.
  12. Have the ability to safely and effectively operate basic power hand tools.
  13. Must be able to diagnose basic electrical issues such as fuses, photoelectric eyes, drives, and motors. Mechanic must be able to change or repair these items.
  14. Proficient in hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical sytems. And possess the ability to troubleshoot and repair sub-components.
  15. Have the ability to operate independently and without additional mechanic support.
  16. Be proficient in the tasks as outlined in the SKILL LEVEL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Table.

 Physical Activities:  Walking, reaching, grasping, talking, hearing, standing, climbing, stooping, feeling, crawling.

Physical Demands:   Requires lifting small parts weighing 25 to 60 lbs, a variety of physical movement necessary to repair and install machinery. Required to climb vertical ladders and work on catwalk conveyors at heights exceeding 20-feet.

Visual Acuity:   Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.  Ability to adjust eye to bring objects into sharp focus.  Continuous mental and visual attention.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:  Worker is protected from weather conditions but not from temperature changes which may be sufficiently high or low to cause bodily discomfort.  Worker exposed to sufficient noise level requiring hearing protection. Worker exposed to a variety of physical conditions such as moving mechanical parts, electrical current and high heat. 

 POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

 

Knowledge: Basic math and reading skills. Ability to work from drawings, schedules, equipment manuals, and technical publications, equivalent to two years of trade school.

 

 

Experience:  Requires a minimum of two years of similar maintenance/mechanical experience or two year trade school/Associate Degree in a related mechanical field.  

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids:    Palletizer, conveyor systems, stretch wrappers, drill, grinder, and a variety of hand tools. Must qualify and operate fork lift, scissor lifts, and knuckleboom lifts.

Responsible for having deliveries unloaded in order of priority and properly placed in the warehouse. Responsible for keeping production supplied with components and moving finished goods from the production areas to internal and external customers. Ensures Safety and Health requirements are met for the Department. Helps to maintain 5S and housekeeping standards. Helps to maintain and ensure compliance of all related SOP’s. Performs a variety of functions related to receiving personnel and equipment maintenance.

7.    Ensures employees are meeting established goals, provides feedback, and assists in resolving problems.
8.    Allocate manpower resources throughout the department as needed to support necessary demand.
9.    Responsible for supporting and carrying out good housekeeping, safety regulations and company and departmental policies.
10.    Communicates with preceding and proceeding shifts to ensure accurate understanding and communication of issues.
11.    Ensures that all employees understand and follow SOP’s, GMP’s safety and other departmental policies.

Marginal Functions:
1.    Performs duties of workers supervised, including forklift operation.

Physical Activities: Sitting, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, standing, talking, hearing.
Physical Demands: Lifting cartons up to 30 lbs. by hand and moving pallets of products weighing up to 2000 lbs. with a forklift.

Visual Acuity: Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less with the ability to judge distance and space relationships and bring objects into sharp focus.
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Worker exposed to temperatures significantly high or low to cause marked bodily discomfort. Worker exposed to physical conditions such as moving mechanical parts, working on scaffolding, and high places. Warehouse conditions include temperatures ranging from the 30's (typically 40 degrees in cold weather conditions, with appropriate clothing provided) to the 90's (in hot weather conditions). Estimate time exposure to warehouse condition is 30%.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge: Bachelor’s degree required or 5 years of relevant experience. Requires the ability to read and understand instructions, write, add and subtract. Knowledge of inventory management, appropriate forklift regulations and safety rules is mandatory. Requires good written and oral communication skills.
Experience: Minimum of two to four years warehouse supervision experience. Must be experienced processing receiving warehouse documentation and performing computer operations.
Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids: Forklift Truck, computer and related software (Microsoft Office, SAP), copier, fax, and related office equipment.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required: Forklift operator certification.
