Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our Networking and Infrastructure team. Operating as a Level 2 escalation point, you will take ownership of complex incidents and service requests across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
You will diagnose and resolve issues spanning networking, servers, and cloud platforms, support infrastructure changes and continuous improvement, and help ensure stable, secure, and reliable services for the business and its customers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Service Delivery & Collaboration
- Act as the Level 2 escalation point for support teams, owning complex incidents and service requests requiring advanced infrastructure expertise.
- Collaborate with Level 1 support, senior engineers, project teams, and vendors to resolve issues efficiently.
- Mentor and guide Level 1 engineers by sharing troubleshooting techniques and providing clear direction for recurring issues.
2. Infrastructure & Cloud
- Support and maintain infrastructure across:
- Networking
- Servers
- Virtualisation
- Storage
- Backup
- Cloud platforms
- Administer and troubleshoot AWS and Microsoft Azure environments, including:
Connectivity
Access management
Compute resources
Service availability
- Lead and contribute to infrastructure upgrades, patching, and changes in alignment with change control processes.
3. Troubleshooting & Problem Management
- Investigate and resolve issues across:
- Network
- Servers
- Operating systems
- Cloud
- Applications
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) to reduce recurring incidents.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and incident records.
4. Improvement & Automation
- Identify opportunities to enhance:
- Monitoring
- Alerting
- Operational processes
- Infrastructure reliability
- Leverage scripting and automation to streamline operations and reduce manual effort.
- Drive service improvement through insights, lessons learned, and actionable recommendations.
5. Security, Risk & Compliance
- Adhere to security, compliance, and change management policies.
- Support audits, evidence collection, and vulnerability remediation activities.
- Proactively escalate risks and service-impacting issues to senior stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in infrastructure, networking, or cloud roles within complex IT environments.
- Proven experience operating at Level 2 / escalation support level.
- Strong networking expertise, including:
- TCP/IP
- DNS
- DHCP
- Routing & switching
- Firewalls
- VPN technologies
- Hands-on experience with AWS or Microsoft Azure, supported by certifications such as:
- AWS Solutions Architect Associate
- Azure Administrator Associate (or higher)
- Experience supporting Windows Server and/or Linux environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, including log analysis and fault isolation.
- Familiarity with:
- Monitoring tools
- Backup systems
- Patching solutions
- Endpoint or identity management tools
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Interest in leveraging AI and emerging technologies for infrastructure operations.
- Additional certifications such as:
- CompTIA Network+
- Server+
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- A practical, solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
