We are now seeking an experienced Environment and Release Manager to join our Oracle team, supporting major public sector clients. This is a key coordination and governance role, ensuring the integrity of environment management and release processes across a complex programme landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the environment and cloning plan, ensuring environments are fit for purpose across all phases of testing and deployment.
  • Manage the release process for configuration and code changes, from defect triage through to approval, deployment, and validation.
  • Chair and coordinate change release meetings, ensuring timely review and approval of change requests.
  • Maintain release runbooks, ensuring all pre-release tasks are completed by relevant teams (technical, functional, reporting, client).
  • Ensure traceability and version control of all configuration and design changes, aligned with audit and quality standards.
  • Support walkthroughs of configuration and environment readiness as part of formal entry criteria for testing phases.
  • Collaborate with client-side release managers in a “two-in-a-box” model, ensuring alignment and transparency.
  • Monitor and report on defect and change request status, using tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Drive continuous improvement in environment and release processes, exploring automation opportunities where feasible.

This role requires candidates to be eligible for SC clearance, which includes having a minimum of 5 years of continuous residency in the UK.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Oracle Cloud ERP implementations, with a strong understanding of environment lifecycle management and release governance.
  • Demonstrable track record in Environment and Release Management across complex programmes, ideally within public sector or regulated environments.
  • Experience managing configuration and code releases through multiple test environments (e.g. DEV, UAT, Pre-Prod), ensuring traceability and audit readiness.
  • Familiarity with JIRA or similar tools for defect tracking and change request management.
  • Strong working knowledge of ITIL framework, particularly around Change and Release Management (ITIL Foundation certification desirable).
  • Experience coordinating across cross-functional teams including technical, functional, testing, and client stakeholders.
  • Exposure to CI/CD principles and hybrid release models (manual + automated), with an understanding of Oracle related tooling (FSM, Config Snapshot, etc.).

Skills

  • Leadership & Coordination: Ability to lead environment and release planning activities, chair release meetings, and manage stakeholder communications.
  • Analytical Thinking: Capable of assessing release risks, validating deployments, and ensuring environment readiness.
  • Communication: Clear and confident communicator, able to engage with senior stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Planning & Organisation: Skilled in managing environment calendars, cloning schedules, and release runbooks.
  • Problem Solving: Proactive in identifying and resolving environment-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to testing and production.
  • Documentation & Governance: Strong attention to detail in maintaining environment plans, change logs, and validation records.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working in a “two-in-a-box” model with client-side release managers and SMEs.
