Job Description

You will be responsible for the support of an OpenShift environment for a large UK-based organisation and working directly with the customer to grow and improve this environment.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing in-house expertise and be hands on in the ongoing management of the OpenShift environment
  • Participating in requirements gathering and estimating effort for new enhancements and developments utilising OpenShift
  • Managing tickets in line with ITIL policies and procedures
  • Working directly with the customer and helping their team to upskill
  • Implementing changes, improvements and new features

Working alongside a team of experienced developers as well as other database and infrastructure support teams to deliver application support to customer.

This role involves working for government clients, so all candidates need to either hold SC Clearance or be SC Eligible.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing Kubernetes clusters.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working in a managed services environment.
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining comprehensive infrastructure, processes, and procedures documentation.
  • Experience in an applications management, support, or development role.
  • Good working knowledge of service management, working with SLA's and/or experience of working in an ITIL environment.

Below describes the technical components of the environment to be supported by the successful candidate, who will have experience in some or all the following technologies:

  • Administration of a multi-cluster Kubernetes-based environment.
  • Hands-on experience with OpenShift, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), or similar.
  • RHEL or similar administration experience.
  • CRI-O, Docker or related CRI-based runtime experience.  
  • CI tooling and implementation e.g. Jenkins, GitOps, Tekton, GitLab Runner
  • CD automation and deployment strategy's e.g. Argo-CD, GitOps.
  • Manifest management e.g. GitOps, Kustomize, Helm
  • Kubernetes Operators and Custom Resource Management for production-based workloads.
  • Experience managing monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack.
  • Experience with logging tools like Fluentd, Logstash, or similar.

Location: This role can be delivered in a hybrid nature from one of these offices Belfast, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, London or Newcastle Upon Tyne.
