Job Description

This is a great opportunity to progress existing Kubernetes skills with a leading RedHat Partner with excellent career prospects, and there will be opportunities for cross-practice work as well as a pipeline of complex and innovative projects to support.

This role is an excellent opportunity for a Kubernetes Administrator with more than 4 years experience whom has Configuration and management of a Kubernetes container platform in a large scale environment

The role involves several responsibilities including:

DevOps Engineer (Kubernetes/OpenShift)

Responsibilities

  • Day 2 operations support of a Kubernetes based container platform in a large-scale environment. 
  • Supporting multi-stack development teams on each stage of the SDLC.
  • Supporting automated deployments, release planning and troubleshooting in both non-prod and prod clusters.
  • User management with RBAC & AD integration. 
  • Regular patch updates to Kubernetes, base images and node management in a controlled and automated process.
  • Route, Ingress, Service and networking troubleshooting on Kubernetes software defined network.
  • Monitoring support and effective service uptime management in a 24 X 7 based environment. 

Qualifications

Key Skills / Experience

  • Excellent communication skills between different teams and stakeholder management.
  • Works effectively within a team
  • Works with the client to develop the required project approach, phases, deliverables, tasks and estimates
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD best practices and industry standing tooling.
  • Expert knowledge of Jenkins: installation, operation and plugin management.
  • Strong understanding Git based VCS, using branching, merging and tagging best practices.
  • Experience working with configuration management/ infrastructure as code tooling.
  • Understanding of Java & Angular applications, logging, env-vars and runtime management. 
  • Thrive when working with the latest technologies, strong self-learner and have a proven ability to learn quickly on the job.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and upskilling on latest technologies and trends
  • Strong experience working with Docker, CRI-O or related container technology.
  • Strong knowledge with developing and troubleshooting scripts to automate and integrate tasks as part of an overall CI/CD solution.  (Bash, Python…etc)

Basic Qualifications:

  • BSc in Computer Science or related field.
  • 5+ years experience with Linux systems administration and networking
  • 5+ years experience supporting Java (or similar) based development teams.

Additional Skill but not mandatory

  • Configuration Management using GitOps based approach.
  • Experience with HELM or related tools.
  • API management support eg 3Scale or other.
  • Kubernetes Operators and related CRDs.
  • Build tools eg Maven, NPM, Gradle or other.
  • Prometheus or related metric monitoring tool.
  • Grafana and ELK.
