Job Description

 

Version 1 has an exciting role for a dynamic and enthusiastic Network Engineer who enjoys working with customers and internal staff alike. You will be a solid team player and superb communicator who can deliver excellence in both project and support work. Based within our Networks and Systems team this role is responsible for providing mainly Network support as well as working with customers to enhance current systems and develop projects to implement new solutions.

  • Support, configure and manage network security devices (Fortigate, Palo Alto and Cisco firewalls, etc)
  • Maintain and improve documentation of customers’ network environments
  • Provide Level 2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve technical issues
  • Work within change management policies to ensure success of change.
  • Co-ordinate with vendors and other IT teams to resolution

 

 

Qualifications

 

Technical Skills:

  • Cisco CCNP (R&S) or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience + multivendor VPN
  • >3 years relevant real and diverse experience (CCNP R&S) level) supporting network technologies
  • Experience supporting and configuring a range of network devices (firewalls, routers, load balancers, etc): remote and S2S VPNs, BGP (enterprise level), HA/redundancy/failover design/implementation/support, etc
  • Excellent communications skills, written and verbal
  • Azure and/or AWS Cloud (network experience) experience is a plus

Desirable Skills:

  • IT Degree or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
  • Multivendor network experience (Fortigate, Palo Alto, Juniper, Cisco, etc.)
  • Linux, Cloud Network Automation, Terraform experience
  • Palo Alto PCNSE or PCNSA certifications
  • ITIL familiarization

  • Be very curious to learn the concepts of each technology, how and why each network technology/concept is used depending on what needs to be achieved or troubleshoot.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communications skills are an absolute necessity
  • Capable of adjusting their approach for the varied customers supported
  • Process-oriented with great attention to detail
